SSA Academy was honoured to support the AI Kopi Talk outreach held at Geylang Serai Market on 16 & 23 May in partnership with e2i and MENDAKI.

Designed as a relaxed, community-based engagement, AI Kopi Talk aimed to make AI more approachable and accessible for everyday Singaporeans through short conversations and simple hands-on demonstrations at the hawker centre.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the outreach was interacting with seniors and members of the community who were initially apprehensive and felt that AI was “not for them”. However, after being shown practical and relatable uses of AI — from translation and recipe suggestions to drafting messages, generating songs, and writing pantuns — many became increasingly curious and open to exploring the technology further.

We were also honoured to welcome Minister of State, Rahayu Mahzam, who came down to engage with the community and participate in the outreach activities.

A big thank you to Employment & Employability Institute, e2i and Yayasan MENDAKI for entrusting SSA Academy with this meaningful initiative, and to our facilitators for creating warm, encouraging, and confidence-building interactions throughout the activations.

Last Friday, SSA Academy and SSA Culinary Institute had the honour of welcoming close to 900 cooks and centre attendants from NTUC First Campus childcare centres for their bi-annual professional development workshops focused on cooking, cleaning, workplace safety and operational best practices.

This marks the 5th run of this large-scale engagement conducted by SSA Group — a meaningful milestone that reflects the strong partnership and trust built over the years.

Behind every childcare centre is a dedicated team working tirelessly to support the wellbeing, safety and daily care of our children. From nutrition and food preparation to hygiene and environmental upkeep, the role played by cooks and centre attendants is incredibly important in shaping a safe and nurturing learning environment.

What stood out strongly throughout this engagement was NTUC First Campus’ genuine commitment towards continuous learning and development for their blue-collared workforce. It is inspiring to work alongside an organisation that places such strong emphasis on uplifting and empowering the people behind the scenes.

A heartfelt thank you as well to our trainers, facilitators, operations teams and support staff from SSA Academy and SSA Culinary Institute for making this large-scale programme possible.

We look forward to many more meaningful collaborations ahead.
