Heph Academy has partnered with Asia Quant Academy, an affiliate of HKCareers & IBankCoaching, to promote their program - Global Quant Trading Career Program.
Through 6 modules that cover fundamental quantitative finance concepts to quant trading strategies and techniques, the roughly 4-month program would equip candidates with the skills to thrive in a quant role.
The program would also place candidates in one of 50 partnering trading boutique shops, family offices, fund houses and hedge funds, where they will be assigned an experienced quant analyst as supervisor and be provided with a reference letter upon successful completion of the placement.
Past candidates of the program have received offers for quant-related roles (strats, trading, etc.) from firms such as Two Sigma, Citadel and Goldman Sachs.
As part of the partnership, candidates would be able to sign up for the program at an exclusive rate through Heph Academy. This program is suitable for both students and
experienced professionals who are looking to upskill or are considering a career change.

Chapter 01: Foundation | Heph Academy A century ago, behind every tool was a skilful craftsman and his array of instruments. In present days, however, efficiency is often brought by a creative thinker and his programming skills. Regardless of your profession, being equipped with the ability to program and construct your own tools would....

"The holy grail of job-seeking undergraduates!"

When we asked Ali what he liked about our workshop, he instantly pointed to the pragmatism of what we provide - a typical trait of those working in hedgies. He goes so far to say that he thinks this is the holy grail of job-seeking undergraduates.

It is extremely difficult to stand out when there are so many bright applicants competing for each graduate or internship spot in highly coveted firms. There are things that you can do to increase your chances, but being able to create tools that people rely on with your knowledge and, more importantly, being able to explain in lucid terms what you can create is simply "what's called a pro gamer move that shouldn't be allowed," he joked (with more than just a hint of seriousness).

Efficiency is perhaps sought after most by Krav Maga-trained combatants who need to disable their opponent in one swift strike; consultants come a close second. In consulting, it's mostly about cutting excesses, eliminating bottlenecks and improving productivity. Consultants may work with different clients, but the projects usually revolve around the same recurring themes.

Consulting is no simple work: before producing glitzy slides and chunky reports, consultants have to first spend a lot of time collecting, cleaning and organizing data. In the not-so-perfect world we live in, they also face tight, competing deadlines. Hence, Stephanie joined our workshop to learn the skills that will greatly enhance her productivity. A consultant that walks the talk indeed!

Ashton joined our workshop because he personally witnessed how other interns made processes more productive using VBA programming in his previous internships. While he still managed to do well, he believed that he would have been in a much more favorable position had he also been proficient in coding.

Aptly described as an Omakase, we serve only the most relevant knowledge and skills in our workshops and have painstakingly planned our curriculum to enable participants to construct practical tools using programming immediately after the sessions.

We do not take this description lightly - in an Omakase meal, the diner surrenders his trust to the chef for at least that short moment, choosing to believe that the chef would be able to provide a gastronomically pleasing experience with his expertise. At Heph Academy, we value that trust and promise not to let our participants down.

The futulity of being just academically inclined resonates with Olivia all too well. After all, she has had internship stints at prestigious firms such as OCBC, Covenant Capital and Blackstone Group within the first 2 years of her university journey.

How did she land herself in these opportunities when most struggle to even get a call for an interview in the early part of their university years? In part tenacity and in part understanding what employers want.

Here's the thing: hiring managers do not look for the brightest person in the list. They look for those who exhibit keenness to improve and could make lives simpler for the team. Olivia understood this well and naturally provided her interviewers a pleasant experience.

What else did she realize? That being an efficient person who could code greatly enhances your chances of getting the job and also doing well in it. At the end of the day, clinching the offer is just the first baby step to a successful career.

Mon Fei's affinity with technology was largely confined to just computer games before he started his career at Hays. Things took a turn only when he was given the opportunity to assist multinational technology firms in their recruitment efforts.

A natural hustler - Mon Fei was already a successful financial advisor before he embarked on his career transition - he attended our programming workshop to understand technology better so that his conversations with potential recruitment candidates would transcend the superficial level.

This drive to improve bore fruit as he now not only engages in more meaningful chats with his clients but also puts his newly-acquired knowledge to good use in his day-to-day routines.

Programming has never really been on Dalston's mind for most of his life. A fitness enthusiast, he pursued nutrition for his undergraduate studies and can be found in the gym on most days.

Yet, a career as a clinical dietician still brought him to face the reality that our lives are now intertwined with technology. At the outset of his career, he struggled incessantly with constructing simple excel spreadsheets to complete his daily tasks. To improve his situation, he decided to attend our workshop so that he can be more productive at work.

Dalston is now not only much more confident with constructing complex formulas in his spreadsheet but is also able to automate various tasks that are part of his daily routine. As a result, he enjoys not only greater efficiency but also the admiration of his co-workers and superior.
