CNA asked us why so many SG parents are signing their kids up for art. 📺

Because kids want to make things. Real things, with their hands.

That's what CNA saw at Tree Art.

There's paint. There's also 3D printing and robotics built into the projects.

Our CFO, Teh Chun Sem, told CNA that parents aren't only focused on academics anymore. They want creativity, confidence, and a child who can explain their own ideas. Because those carry into everything that comes later.

And when a child has imagination, they can make something of their own. Not copy and paste.

CNA also mentioned our enrollment has more than doubled since 2022. Most of those parents found us the same way you just did, then came down for one trial class.

🇸🇬 An Art Class That Builds Your Child's Creativity

Can your child get much out of an art class if nobody shows them exactly what to draw?

Good art lessons teach kids to look closely, think for themselves, try things out and come up with their own ideas.

🌱 In many art classes, the teacher draws something and every child copies it. When all the kids are aiming for the same picture, there's not much room left for imagination.

At TREE ART, our lessons work differently.

Kids head out of the classroom to explore nature, neighbourhoods and museums, then draw from what they saw there.

📖 Art mixed with other subjects
Lessons bring in history, science and books, so kids understand an idea first and then show it in their art.

We don't ask if a drawing looks "right". Kids use colour, lines, shapes and collage to show their own ideas and feelings.

Several of our students just received DSA offers from Hwa Chong Institution's Art Elective Programme. 🎉

If you've been through DSA, you know how few places there are and how hard they are to get.

Here's the interesting part, especially to parents who are watching their own child draw at the kitchen table and wondering if it could ever go anywhere.

None of these offers came down to luck. What the panel responds to is:

✅ A portfolio with real work in it, not a folder of pretty pictures
✅ Technical skill that holds up when someone who teaches art looks closely
✅ A style that's actually the child's own

That last one is the hardest to fake and the easiest to spot. Panels see hundreds of portfolios. They can tell within seconds which pieces a child made because they wanted to, and which were made to tick a box.

Which is why we don't run a DSA crash course. You can't build a portfolio in three months. You build it over years, one piece at a time, while a child figures out what they actually want to say.

The DSA offer is a nice milestone. But we're more interested in the child still drawing at twenty-five because somebody took their work seriously at eleven.

Our students just won on a world stage.

This year, Tree Art students competed in the 14th Youth World Cup Painting Competition, the contest UNICEF calls the "Olympics of youth painting." It's been running since 2012, with over 100,000 kids entering every year from more than 50 countries.

This round's theme was "Peace, Hope, Future." After judging by an international panel, our Singapore students placed across every single age group, from as young as 4 all the way up to 25.

Congratulations to every Tree Art artist who placed, and to every parent who's been cheering them on at home.
