A message from Kevin's wife

Sometimes, an event happens in your life that is so life-changing that it literally splits it into two parts: life before that event and life after that event. On 27 December 2022, that event was Kevin's hemorrhagic stroke. Doctors feared the worst, and told me to be mentally prepared. By some miracle, and perhaps due to a strong will to live and the prayers of many, Kevin made it back after three months. This is a man who suffered from cancer not once, but twice, and both times he had somehow picked himself up and maintained his good humour. I naively expected him to do the same after the stroke. After all, Kevin had faced cancer and survived. He would do the same this time.

But after the first year, I started to waver in my belief. A chronic lung condition landed Kevin in hospital countless times during the first two years post stroke. He became physically weaker, and any recovery he made seemed to slow down and come to a halt due to his lung condition. The stroke had affected his ability to speak and he was frequently frustrated when he could not communicate his thoughts. Worse of all, his constant fatigue wore him down and he was usually tired, depressed and barely responsive. He was a shadow of his former self and it was extremely painful to see him like this day after day. There were many nights of tears and anxiety as I pleaded, scolded and even cursed God.

A recent lung infection in April 2025 put Kevin back in hospital twice within two weeks. When my friend Melisa came to visit and found out that Kevin had 9 books to his name, she insisted that we remind everyone, including Kevin, that he was, and still is, a teacher. One that motivates his students through his fighting spirit and his books.
This somehow lit a spark and life seemed to return to Kevin. He was so excited that he insisted on doing a promotion for one of his ebooks. It was amazing to see him filled with life and purpose again - almost back to his old self. And it made me determined to help him continue with his life mission to teach and inspire the people around us.

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford or is blessed to receive and these may include the needy and underprivileged; so often we also forget about the sick and the suffering, and end up neglecting them as a result.

This is precisely why I am organizing a special project on top of my usual fund-raising campaign in order to raise funds for two cancer-related associations adopted since early 2020, namely the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) and the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS).

Having said that, with the 11.11 sale coming around the corner what other promotion will there be then?

The pressure and stress are most definitely building up given that in less than 9 days’ time, my 9th eBook will be launched on the 10th of October 2021. All the topic chapters are completed, and are currently undergoing a proof-reading process; what’s remaining are the introduction and conclusion, after which everything will be compiled together to produce the full eCopy for your reading pleasure.

Pre-order will start on 7th October 2021, at a discounted price of SGD$7 for the first 50 buyers; thereafter, the retail price henceforth will be SGD$13.

For those who are not aware, I am also supporting two cancer-related charity organizations; and they are the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) and the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), in memory of my parent’s fight against their own cancer. My father died of melanoma cancer in 2014, and my mother is in remission from breast cancer since 2011.

I am also battling my own cancer, as a nasopharyngeal cancer relapse survivor since 2017; I am no longer employable, so I sell my eBooks to raise funds for both BCF and SCS as well as for myself at the same time.

As the deadline draw even nearer, the pressure builds up; and the stress intensifies as well, which sometimes result in a mental block that disrupts the completion of my upcoming 9th eBook. I can only blame myself for what is happening, considering that I had ample time since my last publication last October to write the next eBook.

Being the procrastinator that I am, as well as the excuses that I was never a reader nor writer to start with become the reasons for such a last-minute rush-job, I pray that the finished product will not disappoint you (my readers) especially those who have been very supportive all this while.

I also hope that newcomers to my publication will find value in what I have to share in all my works thus far, and assist in promoting and marketing them to your friends and contacts thereafter. I truly appreciate and I thank you in advance for your openness to checking me out, and more importantly I want to express my deepest gratitude to you for all your generous support of the charity organizations I have adopted as part of my fundraising campaigns through my eBook sales.

Partly due to the nature of my cancer background as well as my family history, I have chosen to adopt the Singapore Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of my parent’s fight with their own cancer history. My father lost his battle to melanoma cancer and passed on in 2014, whereas my mother has been in successful remission from breast cancer since 2011; and as for myself, I am a nasopharyngeal cancer relapse survivor since 2017.
