Today, the advanced class watched an audiovisual lesson on "Indirect Conversation of Kyoto People."
There is a historical background to why Kyoto people don't say things directly.
In class, they learned about Japan's three greatest generals: Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu.
One of my students, Eiko, already knew "Ieyasu's famous quote."

今日は上級のクラスの視聴覚レッスンで「京都人の遠回しの会話」を鑑賞。
京都人が物事をストレートに言わない理由には、歴史的な背景がある。
そこでクラスで学んだ「日本の三大将軍」、信長、秀吉、家康。
生徒のえいこさんは「家康の名言」を知っていました。
