One thing I wish more parents knew about learning music 🎵
Children don’t need to be “musically talented” before they start music lessons.
In fact, some of the most important things we develop in the early years come before playing songs beautifully — listening, keeping a steady beat, coordinating movement, responding to sound, singing, and simply becoming comfortable making music.
And children develop these things at different speeds.
Some will sing immediately.
Some prefer to watch first.
Some are fascinated by the instruments.
Some need several lessons before they start joining in confidently.
That’s completely okay.
After teaching children for many years, I’ve learned that confidence often grows quietly before we can see the results.
The goal isn't to rush a young child into performing.
It's to give them enough positive musical experiences that one day, they begin to think:
“I can do this.” ❤️
If you have a little one learning music, what do they enjoy most — singing, instruments, movement, or simply listening? 🎶
