🌿 Growing Through Nature

Today, our children stepped outdoors to explore the different parts of a plant. They observed the roots, stem, leaves, flowers, and fruits, taking their time to notice the little details around them.

As they explored, they learned that every part of a plant has a purpose and that growth begins from the roots. 🌱

In the same way, every experience gives our children a little more confidence, curiosity, and understanding. Through simple moments in nature, we nurture young minds to look closely, think deeply, and grow with care.

Small discoveries today, strong foundations for tomorrow. 🌿💚

Today, we were delighted to welcome students from the Buddhist Interact Club of Manjusri Secondary School to My Little Gems Preschool.

Through engaging role-play activities, the students from Manjusri guided our children to discover the true meaning of giving is found not in the value of the gift, but in the sincerity of the heart behind it.

Using upcycled tote bags, they demonstrated how to present a gift with both hands, offer kind and respectful words, and extend heartfelt wishes for good health and happiness.

These simple yet meaningful gestures showed our children that every act of giving can express kindness, gratitude and respect.

More importantly, our children experienced that even the smallest gift, when offered with a sincere heart, has the power to brighten someone’s day.

At My Little Gems Preschool, we believe that generosity is not measured by how much we give, but by the love, mindfulness and compassion we bring to every act of giving. ❤️

A Lesson in Gratitude 🙏

Last week, I had the privilege of attending Extraordinary Performance: Legacy of Love by Extraordinary People.
Watching nearly 400 performers take to the stage with confidence and joy, and hearing the stories of their families, reminded me of something profound: gratitude changes the way we see the world.

I left with a deeper appreciation for:
• The courage of every performer.
• The unwavering love and sacrifices of their families.
• The importance of seeing abilities, not disabilities.
• The many blessings we often take for granted.

At My Little Gems Preschool, we believe gratitude is not simply taught—it is cultivated through everyday experiences. As children experience kindness, receive love, and recognise the care of others, they gradually develop hearts that are more appreciative, compassionate and mindful.

Perhaps the greatest gift we can nurture in our children is not simply the habit of saying “thank you”, but a grateful heart that sees the goodness in others and the blessings in everyday life.

🌿 A Day at Our Little Hawker Centre

Today, our little hawker centre came alive with cheerful chefs, thoughtful customers and joyful conversations.
Children patiently waited for their turn.

They spoke with kindness.
They served with care.
They shared with gratitude.

What looked like simple pretend play was, in fact, a quiet practice of becoming. #
Every order was an opportunity to be mindful.
Every conversation was a chance to listen.
Every exchange was an act of generosity.

At My Little Gems, wisdom is cultivated not only in moments of stillness, but also in the ordinary moments of daily life.

A smile.
A “thank you.”
A bowl of food lovingly served.

These small acts, repeated day after day, slowly shape the heart.

Through play, children discover not only the world around them, but also the goodness within themselves.

🥭🥒🍍 Life is like a bowl of rojak.

No single ingredient makes a bowl of rojak. It is the coming together of many ingredients that gives it its flavour.

This week, our children at My Little Gems Preschool discovered that a cookery lesson is more than making a delicious bowl of rojak. It is about understanding that none of us grows alone.

We are who we are because of our families, teachers, friends and the many people who support us every day.

Every meal, every opportunity and every success is possible because of the kindness, care and effort of many.

At My Little Gems Preschool, we believe that education is more than learning to read and write, or simply taking part in a cookery lesson. It is about helping children understand that we are all connected, and inspiring them to live with gratitude, kindness and compassion.

A good friend warms the heart.

We were honoured to attend the farewell reception for H.E. Hong Jin-wook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Singapore, at Korea House, and to celebrate his contributions to the enduring friendship between Singapore and Korea.

What touched us most was that even at his farewell, Ambassador Hong was not only thinking about goodbyes, but about future friendships. His generous invitation for families from My Little Gems Preschool to experience a temple stay in Korea is a reflection of that spirit.

To us, this is more than a cultural exchange. It is an opportunity for children and families to experience the values of mindfulness, gratitude, respect and simplicity—values that are also at the heart of our preschool.

As educators, we believe that some of life's most meaningful lessons happen beyond the classroom. Through experiences like these, children learn not only about different cultures, but also about the values that connect us all.
