🤝🏼 | Had a constructive lunch meeting earlier today with Mr. Kenneth Er, the Second Permanent Secretary (2PS) for Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and his team.

We had a candid exchange on the evolving realities facing SMEs today particularly around workforce pressures, rising operating costs and the pace of transformation required in an increasingly competitive environment.

While policies are designed with broad objectives in mind, the operating realities of SMEs especially family-run and heritage businesses can be quite different. Bridging this gap will be key to ensuring that support measures remain effective and relevant.

We also discussed the importance of making skills development more accessible and practical for SMEs, as well as the need to better support business continuity across generations.

Encouragingly, there is openness to deeper collaboration and SMCCI can play a more active role; not just as a feedback channel, but as a partner in piloting targeted initiatives that support our business community.
