In conjunction with this year's Racial Harmony Day theme, "Our People, Our Tapestry," our school commemorated Racial Harmony Day on 17, 20 and 21 July. The programme highlighted Singapore's rich multicultural heritage and reinforced the importance of fostering mutual understanding, respect and appreciation among our diverse communities.

The programme began with a vibrant morning assembly featuring cultural dance and musical instrument performances by our very own GEMs, showcasing the rich traditions of the Chinese, Malay and Indian communities. Students and teachers also came dressed in ethnic attire, adding to the colourful atmosphere.

The learning continued during the recess interlude, where students enthusiastically took part in a variety of hands-on cultural activities. They experienced the art of henna, tried traditional games such as Zero Point and the plastic dragonfly, and interacted with their peers while learning more about the traditions of different communities.

These engaging activities deepened students' appreciation of Singapore's multicultural heritage and reinforced the values of respect, harmony and inclusivity.

Small actions, big impact! πŸ’š

Green Living at JWPS: Our school was buzzing with excitement as students explored the Carbon Compass: What’s Your Footprint? exhibition on 16 and 17 July 2026. Through a variety of interactive booths and hands-on activities, our young learners discovered how everyday choices can help reduce our carbon footprint. From fun challenges to engaging activities, every station sparked curiosity, meaningful conversations and practical ways to care for our planet.

The exhibition brought to life our school’s focus on sustainability and encouraged students to build simple, lasting habits. Whether it is reducing waste, conserving resources or making thoughtful choices, they know that every small action counts.

It was wonderful to see students learning through play, asking thoughtful questions and leaving with ideas they can put into action at home and in school. Together, we are nurturing environmentally responsible citizens who will make a positive difference, one small step at a time.

We were delighted to welcome our visiting friends from Wenchang Elementary School θ‡ΊεŒ—εΈ‚ε£«ζž—ε€ζ–‡ζ˜Œεœ‹ζ°‘ε°εΈ to JWPS for a meaningful 2-day learning experience! 🌏✨

During their visit, they joined our classroom lessons, experienced Singapore's rich culture through traditional games and local food, and explored our school's sustainability efforts aligned with our Applied Learning Programme (ALP). They also had the opportunity to try soil planting and hydroponics, gaining hands-on learning experiences along the way.

One of the highlights was the interaction with our Primary 5 students, where friendships were formed, ideas were exchanged, and learning went beyond the classroom.

This visit marks the beginning of an exciting exchange, and we look forward to visiting our partner school at the end of the year as part of our Trip for Internationalisation Experience (TIE) Programme.

Thank you for visiting JWPS. Until we meet again! πŸ’šπŸŒ±
