Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to fabric. It is either drawn using a spouted tool called a 'tjanting', or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a 'cap' before colouring it with dyes. The tradition of batik making is found in various countries in Southeast Asia and known to be culturally specific to the Malay community.

Pak Tumadi is an Batik artist based in Singapore. He specializes in mixed media, collage, and more but he is more well known for his batik painting.
Pak tumadi supports the eco-friendly use of the product by designing a hand-painted coaster of batik elements. He choose cork material because of its durability, anti-slip, waterproof, and lightweight. As cork material is one of the environmental materials it does not collect dust and it also gives a natural finishing after colouring.
