On top of our usual ward patient befriending activities, our volunteers also organised a movie screening session in celebration of Hari Raya Puasa, where we watched “The Greatest Showman” and shared snacks with our clients too.

A meaningful morning at the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum ✨ Our special friends spent the day exploring Singapore’s rich natural heritage — from ancient dinosaurs to local biodiversity 🦖🌿

This month, we celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival with our special friends! They had a fun time making mooncakes, enjoyed some snacks, as well as performances and games put up by our volunteers. Thank you to all the volunteers for helping out 🤗

Our first official cohesion for 2025!!

Last saturday, our volunteers came together for a fun-filled bbq session+games at Safra Yishun🍢🥳 We hope everyone had fun and thank you all for coming❤️

Selamat Hari Raya everyone! In celebration of the festive season, we've organized a special movie screening for our special friends during Hari Raya Puasa.

Our special friends had a wonderful time watching the classic Back To The Future and enjoyed some delicious snacks together 🎉🥳

We've also held our annual fundraising event😲 During this festive season, we've collaborated with the hospital's medical social workers to identify and gift red packets/goodie bags to outpatient clients, who have limited social support🙏

Recently we've collaborated with the Achievers and NTUWSC to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with the clients! It was a fun-filled afternoon with food, performances, songs and games 🎉🥳

"I attended the IMH open house back in October 1999 and joined a briefing session where I met Catherine Chua, who recruited me as a volunteer. At that time, I was still an HR manager with another company until I retired in 2008. Two years later, Catherine asked, 'Do you want to join IMH as a part-time volunteer programme staff?' And I said YES!

You have to be patient and persistent in finding a chance to speak and bond with our special friends (IMH patients). One way I try to strike up a conversation is to bring them snacks and tidbits. It's such a joy to interact with our special friends. When they see me, they're happy. They wave at me and call my name from far away."

This Labour Day, we showcase a few colleagues with lesser-known-and-equally-valuable jobs in our hospital! For the last 13 years, Lee Poh Leng put a pause on retirement to work part-time as a volunteer programme coordinator. His advice for new volunteers would be to stay open minded and to learn common Chinese dialects to communicate with patients!
