Supercharging science with AI! NUS has secured 4 strategic AI-based projects awarded under Singapore’s S$120 million AI-for-Science Initiative that aims to accelerate the pace of innovation.
Together with their collaborators, our researchers are leading these revolutionary projects:
⚛️ Materials Data Foundry (NUS Lead: Prof Sir Konstantin Novoselov): AI and robotics will be used to discover next-generation materials for electronics, clean energy and sustainable infrastructure.
NUS Materials Science Engineering NUS College of Design and Engineering
💻 AI for Program Reasoning (NUS Lead: Prof Abhik Roychoudhury): AI tools will be built to automatically verify AI-generated code, ensuring the programs that powers our digital world are safe, secure and work as intended. NUS Computing
🧬 Accelerating Genomic Research with AI (NUS Lead: Prof Cheng Ching-Yu): An AI model will be developed to interpret complex genomic data in unison for breakthroughs in precision medicine. NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine
🌱 Advancing Knowledge-Guided AI to Develop Agricultural Digital Twins for Singapore’s Climate Resilience (NUS Lead: Prof Roman Carrasco): Digital twins – virtual replicas of farmland – will be created to simulate real-world conditions for better prediction of our changing climate, in order to improve agricultural strategies and reinforce food security.
