✨ Medical Grand Challenge (MGC) Finale 2026 ✨
What a fantastic finale to this year’s Medical Grand Challenge, held on 15 August 2026 at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore!
MGC is a year-long, student-led and faculty-supported medical innovation programme that brings students from across faculties together to identify unmet healthcare needs and develop creative, interdisciplinary solutions.
This year, 59 teams competed across the Nascent and Open categories, showcasing an inspiring range of innovative ideas with the potential to make a meaningful impact on healthcare. 💡🩺
Congratulations to all our participating teams, winners and special award recipients! 🏆 And a big thank you to our judges, faculty supporters and everyone who made MGC 2026 a success.

Block 2: Transformative Assessment Design to Support Learner Performance was held on 9 & 10 July, with many thanks to A/Prof Denise Goh, A/Prof Derrick Lian, Adj Prof Shirley Ooi, A/Prof Jolene Oon and Prof Gominda Ponnamperuma for facilitating this workshop. Participants explored evidence-based assessment design, contemporary assessment tools in HPE and ways to support learners through mentoring, supervision and coaching.
CenMED in partnership with the Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS), successfully hosted a series of workshops facilitated with Visiting Professor Gominda Ponnamperuma from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. On 7 and 8 July, The Examiner’s Toolkit: Best Practices for Assessing Residents brought together examiners to explore contemporary best practices in postgraduate assessment. On 14 July, Understanding Clinical Assessment Metrics deepened participants’ understanding of psychometric principles and their application in medical education. The workshops were a great success and we look forward to more collaborations with DGMS in the future.

On 13 July 2026, CenMED had a wonderful Associate Meeting and Appreciation Dinner with our valued associates. We shared updates on our activities, projects and progress, and we were so grateful for the thoughtful ideas, insights and wisdom shared by our associates.
We then headed to Coast & Roast at Paragon for a heartfelt dinner to say thank you to those who have supported CenMED with their time, knowledge, and involvement. We truly appreciate your continued support and partnership. 🤍

The Asia Pacific Medical Education Network (APME-Net) has launched its inaugural Council, marking a significant milestone in its journey to strengthen regional collaboration and advance across the Asia-Pacific.
We are delighted to announce that Dr Lee Shuh Shing from the National University of Singapore has been elected as the inaugural President of APME-Net.
We look forward to her leadership in driving innovation, fostering regional partnerships, and advancing excellence in health professions education throughout the Asia-Pacific.
