We are expanding into Maths๐ŸŽฒ and Science๐Ÿ”ญ!

We are setting up our very own Mathematics & Science Laboratories! It will be a splendid cove with plentiful of opportunites for hands-on, for exploration! What better way to learn than to allow each and every child to DO all the DOINGS, themselves! I believe whole-heartedly that integrating Maths & Science ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ”ฌ is the way to go!

Let your child make sense๐ŸŒŸof the Maths & Science in his daily life๐Ÿ”‹ - in his very own home๐Ÿ›
& in his very own kitchen๐Ÿด - or his mummy's, at least!๐Ÿ˜‰

Let your child unlock his cur๐Ÿ”‘os๐Ÿ”‘ty! ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”ง

Let his eyes do the observing. After all, they did say "seeing ๐Ÿ‘€ is believing"!

Let his ears ๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿผbe the judges! They are some of the best kinds!

Let his tongue ๐Ÿ‘… do the tasting and his nose ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿผ, the smelling. Oh! What I wouldn't do to witness all the wincing ๐Ÿ˜–and the contorting ๐Ÿ˜ฃof their facial expressions as they check out the flavours!Priceless! Or that eyes that open real big with a taste or smell that goes, yummmm...๐Ÿ˜‹!

Let him touch and let him feel! For through these moments, memories are created! Life-long memories.

Let him open up๐Ÿ’ซhis mind! Let the wonders in our Maths ๐Ÿ’ธ & Science ๐Ÿ”จ laboratories enhance his learning and understanding.

Let the numbers and the atoms around him integrate logically๐Ÿ’ก to him!

Look out for more exciting ๐Ÿš€ details and an upcoming website!

Write it Right
Entrust your child to me. ๐Ÿ˜Š

16/08/2016

At Write it Right, we sometimes dawdle.

Sometimes, we dillydally.

Most of the times, we are relaxed and tranquil.

It is a place where every voice is heard, every idea, no matter how "fascinating" :p, is discussed.

We celebrate efforts. We build confidence. We allow imagination to feed itself. For once a child knows that there is actually a variety of ways to write, that all their ways are the "right" ways anyway, their confidence surges by leaps and bounds.

So, let them. English is a beautiful language to learn. Let their journey be a pleasant one. Let them be a happy and confident child.

The grades will come. Don't you doubt that.

Entrust your child to me.

As you hold your child's hand and send him to school, and tuition classes, and swimming lessons and oh, the range of activities our children are already busy with...do be...attentive.

Use every opportunity that presents itself to feed on your child's imagination and curiosity.

There is no reason to wait for a story book before a child can indulge in his imagination!

Tap on anything and everything he is excited about. It could be that pebble he always stops to pick up on the way to school.

Or the funny looking stick that looks like a stick man.

That is a precious moment when we should all not hurry towards the blinking traffic light.

Hold on.

Step back and watch.

Let your child be immersed in his moment. Allow him to quench his curiosity. Feed it. Ooohhs and aaahhss about it. Let his imagination run while. Guide the thoughts along. Throw mind-boggling questions at him. Let him ponder. Let him want to look for answers. Let him just imagine what the answers could be...Oh the spectrum of possibilities!

Allow it.

Celebrate his imagination! And usually, they present themselves in the smallest of ways.

Don't miss them. :)

I MUST emphasise that big technical terms do not happen in my classroom.

When my children write with me, we truly go through the motions of the stories. We are IN the stories. We feel the sun and fear the storm. We express our emotions freely and intensely. We go to any depth a child wants to swim into. Or we could be contented with the pleasure of being just at the surface of the water. But all the same, we brave everything together.

And we will always emerge a winner. We will each win differently, but a winner each child will still be, for each writing piece is a work worthy of a celebration.

Pardon me please, for I will leave the hamburgers to the schools. ;)

This little note goes to every Mummy and...oh well... Mummies only, I reckon! Perhaps we tend to worry differently from Daddies? ;) And I totally classify that as perfectly legitimate.

So I have received calls from several Mummies who wanted me to share tips on how they can encourage their children to read. They have tried it all. You name it, they say. They have done it all. And I believe them. We Mummies...we don't leave any stone unturned, do we?

How shall we encourage our kids to read? (You mean, besides tying them up to a chair with a book shoved on their laps, and a cane in our hands, right? Haha. Ok, jokes aside... But hey, really... maybe that'll just work for some? LOL. Not! Kidding! Seriously kidding!)

I'd say, DIG UP THEIR INTERESTS.

On anything. On something. On ONE thing. Surely they have one passion, if not two... or more!

FIRE that interest. That passion. IGNITE it. It could start with just you "stumbling" onto something related online - which you have googled and researched and decided, yay, that's exactly what my child is excited about. Balloon up that discovery. Oooohhhssss and aaaahhhhsss about it. Print it. Wall it. Lots of chatting about it. Together, write short interesting stuff to describe this part and that part...add that to the wall. (And PLEASE ignore all grammar errors if you spot any! Just focus on his passion!) No walls? No worries. A nice big chart might just be as fun!

The next thing you do is to find out exactly which bookshops sell books on those interests. Hence, more "stumbles" ensued. ;) You and your child would "accidentally stumble" on those books say, on one of your "nothing-to-do" Sunday afternoons.

I hear more ooohhhhssss and aaahhssss!

And I hope, with that child on your lap, or in the folds of your arms, you two will be hooked on books.

All the best, Mummies!

Dear Mummies & Daddies, read to your child, read with your child.

Put them on your lap ( if this still works :p ) and cherish the moments together.

Enjoy a book together.

Don't just tell your child to read.

Model it.

Embrace it.

It all starts with the story. Don't spoil this precious reading moments by pointing out grammar rules or focusing on phrases ( at least not yet ;) ). Be immersed in the story...Float away with the characters...

Do it consistently.

Do it lovingly.

Because your child can tell. Because your child can feel.

And I assure you... you two will be hooked on books.
