Thanks all teachers for the effort & guidance!😉✌
Hello, I went to Swiss Cottage from 1973 through 1976. I am originally from Bangladesh and returned to my home country in late 1976. I was in contact with my dear friends for some time but lost all contact after a few years. Since then, I have been searching desperately for my dear friends with little or no success. Some of my closest friends were Peter Campbell; Alauddin; Lee Fun Chek; Lai Kwong Chow; Ruben Paul Pereira; Margaret Koh; Lei Mei Kuen; Polly Ng; Do any of you know them or how I can contact them? I would greatly appreciate all your help. Thank you so much. Tariq Zaman

“Without labor, nothing prospers.” 💐Each and every one of our Swiss students worked very hard and gave their best both scholastically and non-academically. We are so proud of you! Let’s give a round of applause👏 to those that got their awards during Speech Day🎤 and to those that have put in so much effort for the scaled down NDP observance👀 ceremony. Let's continue to keep up the good work for our school and our nation, Singapore! “We did it before, and we’ll do it again!” 💪 Majulah Singapura! 🇸🇬

🎶 “Come whatever on the road ahead / We did it before, and we’ll do it again”🎵

🇸🇬Happy Birthday Singapore!🎂

Today, our school had an early celebration of our nation’s 56th birthday. 🥳 Our Thoughtful Leaders had a fun time participating in Guess the Lyrics - National Day Songs edition via Kahoot! 🎤 Each class also shared their well wishes for Singapore on Padlet. ❤️

Doubling up on the celebrations, our 58th Speech Day 🎉was also held and live-streamed, where awards were given to students who have proven themselves to be outstanding in their various academic endeavours. Congratulations to all our award recipients!🎖🎉

It’s the Olympics season as we know it, and what better time is there than now to share some sports achievements by our own Swiss atheletes?

Chia Kacey, the former captain of the Floorball Girls from 4E5, attained the Peter Lim scholarship in June 2021! 😄

This scholarship was set up by the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF) by a philanthropist and sports enthusiast, Mr Peter Lim.

The objective of the scholarship is to support young high performing athletes🏒 under the age of 18 to pursue sporting excellence in their chosen fields. Congratulations to Kacey from 4E5!🎉

Our Swiss Bowling Team🎳 took part in the National School Games, B division in April 2021. The team was awarded 🎖with the National School Games Sportsmanship award, given by the Singapore Schools Sports Council 🤼, which recognises outstanding athletes who exhibited great sportsmanship💪 during the National School Games.

Sarvendran Selvaraj from 4E3 pushed on through the game despite sustaining an injury🩹 during the competition. Not only did he do so, but he also rallied the team together and encouraged his juniors to work even harder - what an exemplar of true sportsmanship! 🎉

You might recall seeing their faces😊 when they first introduced their Milo Escape Room at the start of the year as part of their Creative Component for the NUS Geography Challenge👀!

We are happy to announce🔊 that with the help of your participation🤝, these four passionate geographers🌍 from 4E5 managed to produce a winning poster for the Creative Component after examining the supply chain of Milo🥛 and they even suggested what different stakeholders can do to reduce waste🗑 generated from milo consumption.🙌

On top of that, they have all done the school proud by attaining a medal🎖️ each in the individual component, with Ng Jyn Kai Declan and Wong Jun Jie Bryan winning the Bronze medal🥉, and Loke Yu Yern and Mignon Pang Ling Xuan winning the Gold medals🏅!

May our Geographers continue to hold on to their indomitable spirit😇 and valuable lessons they have learnt from the competition in the coming years ahead! 👏

Due to the COVID-19 🦠 restrictions during the S*F period, many of our Chinese Orchestra members 🎻 were unable to perform on stage. Thus, to not let our CO members’ efforts go to waste 🚮, we took part 🤘 in the Nanyang International Music Competition set up by NAFA (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts). Through this competition 🫂, we were able to showcase 🤩 our skills as well as provide a platform 😄 for people that did not participate in S*F ☹️ to be able to have an equal chance of performing 🥰.

With our hard work, we are happy to announce 🤩🥳 that the Swiss Chinese Orchestra has managed to clinch Silver 🥈 in this competition! Great job SCCO! 😆🆒

Our Swiss Students commemorated Racial Harmony yesterday with a range of activities that got them thinking 💭 about what it means to appreciate and care for others who come from a different culture or background. 👥

Our Sec 1 students discovered traditions through three online Escape Rooms based on the theme of cultural weddings. 💍

Sec 2s explored the meaning of respectful representation of a culture through and beyond the ethnic outfits they were donning. 👘

Last but not least, our Upper Sec students engaged in conversations 🗣on the impact of casual racism, and pondered on the tensions between humour and sensitivity, familiarity and limits. 👍

These activities were the final installment in a three-part series dedicated to an appreciation of each other and our cultures, what matters to us, and represents our commitment to the social contract of racial harmony. ❤️

Swipe left to get a glimpse of our students' thoughts and feelings about Racial Harmony Day 2021.☺️

Thoughtful Leaders! It's our turn to do our part!

Following today's address by PM Lee, it was announced that students aged 12 and above will be invited to register for the COVID-19 vaccine from Jun 1. This comes after the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was approved by the Health Sciences Authority for those aged 12 to 15 earlier this month.

The exercise will start with graduating cohorts from secondary schools, in particular, students sitting for the GCE N- and O-Level examinations later this year.

You may refer to the infographic as well as slides in this post for more information on the vaccination process as well as answers to some frequently asked questions.

You will also find details on the MOE Zoom session with medical experts on 1 and 3 June where you may ask any questions you may have about the vaccine and the vaccination process.

Let us all do our part to keep each other safe and protect our school, families and community.

It was certainly music to our ears to hear that our Swiss Chinese Orchestra was awarded a Distinction for an excellent performance at the Signapore Youth Festival (S*F) 2021!

The piece that they performed was 天葬 (Sky Burial), which depicts the proceedings of a Tibetan funeral practice. Vibrant inasmuch as it is poignant, the composition begins with a mix of percussion and string instruments that bring across the feelings of bewilderment and sorrow that one experiences when faced with the loss of a loved one. The piece culminates into its ecstatic finale which leaves the audience wanting for more.

Miss Alviena Teo, one of the teachers in-charge of CO, said, “I am very proud of them. It takes a lot of skill and coordination to play this piece and they have achieved that! On the day of the S*F, they kept cool and calm despite being nervous and performed brilliantly.

Echoing these sentiments, Miss Low Yu Hui, another teacher-in-charge who has been on this journey with the students, shared: “We are very proud of their hard work and dedication despite the highly intensive training sessions they went through together! They demonstrated resilience and perseverance until the end.”

Our heartfelt congratulations to the Swiss Chinese Orchestra!
