Buddy is training to work together with people who, for one reason or another, need protection in their everyday life. He is 1,5 years old and in this phase of the training he is doing a lot of basic obedience in all sorts of everyday situations and environments. He has done quite a lot of bitework training and we have now started to add the barking into that chain. When his handler gives the cue, he will in the end bark towards a person, and if the person continues forward he will bite. The behaviours in itself is not complicated, it is the process of generalization that is the main challenge. To do the behaviour only on cue, in all situations and towards all persons (not only the ones having a sleeve or bite suit.

Here is Ivy, the first of a series of puppies we will acquire and start up during the coming year. Right now she does what working dogs usually do at work, she plays. She lives with our friend Kai. The main focus over the coming months is socialization. The play involves learning to indicate articles/odours, laser directionals, heeling, sit, down and bite work.

Gradually increasing the length of chains of cues for Griz directionals training.

Griz learning to discriminate between directional cues.

Griz learning directional cues. Left-right works ok, now we have added turn (around) as well and started to give cues over radio to prepare for longer distances.

Bigman Griz has entered the progression plan for being directed to fetch, carry and leave objects at a different spots. This is a summary of the progression of the last two days where he first learns to use the "loss" also in this context, then the cue for fetching the object and after that starting to link fetch and loss to being sent away from the handler.

A hot day in Sweden (at last). We spend it recording videos for the progression plan on how to start adding detection to the laser directionals. Here it is Luna doing some sends up a stair followed by a short search. The aim is to keep the dogs expectation to find close to the start high in order to prevent the dog from using th legs more than the nose when searching.
