Uppsala Rotary Peace Center shares a recent podcast developed in collaboration with the Rotary Peace Centre at the University of Queensland.
In this episode of Higher Ed Heroes, hosted by Associate Professor Sebastian Kaempf, Director at the University of Queensland’s Rotary Peace Centre, Professor Karen Brounéus, Director of the Uppsala Rotary Peace Center, discusses how mindfulness can support student learning. Drawing on both academic research and professional experience, the conversation highlights practical ways to integrate mindfulness into educational settings.
In addition to incorporating mindfulness into her teaching in peace and conflict studies, Professor Brounéus also provides mindfulness training to members of the Swedish Parliament.

🎉 Celebrating 100 years of Rotary in Sweden!
On Friday, 20 March, we had the privilege of welcoming Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo, along with a distinguished delegation of Rotarians who have supported the Uppsala Rotary Peace Center since its founding in 2011. They visited our Peace Center at Uppsala University, where we shared ideas and highlighted ongoing work.
The following day, 21 March, we were invited to take part in a conference in Uppsala celebrating 100 years of Rotary in Sweden. Our Center Coordinator, together with representatives from Classes 23 & 24 Peace Fellows, reflected on the past 15 years of the Center’s journey - sharing the Fellows’ experiences, perspectives, and the lasting impact of the Rotary Peace Fellowship.
We are deeply grateful for the continued support of Rotary International and Rotarians in Sweden and around the world, whose partnership makes this transformative program possible.

An example of the kind of research Peace Fellows at the Uppsala Peace Center pursue alongside their Master's studies. This new working paper by Michaela Peters-Salah, Class 23 Fellow, explores the links between environmental governance, vulnerabilities of climate change, and conflict.
