Let us present our second speaker for this autumns IM alumn meeting!
Understanding the implementation of AI technologies in intimate everyday life
Matilda Tudor, PhD, Media and Communication Studies
Matilda Tudors’ presentation focuses on her current work on AI and algorithms in intimate spheres, such as reproduction, health and desire. As such deeply personal aspects of our lives are increasingly datafied and understood through technological feedback loops, she asks what embodied knowledge actually means in our times, and what happens to personal agency and intuition? The presentation will pay particular attention to contemporary social uses of chatbots such as ChatGPT and Character AI, and the ever more intimate relationships between humans and AI systems.
Matilda Tudor is a researcher and lecturer in Media and Communication Studies at Uppsala University since 2020. She earned her doctoral degree at Södertörn University 2018, with a dissertation about q***r orientations and digital media use in contemporary Russia. Since then, her research has focused on the existential and ethical challenges arising due to the implementation of AI into everyday technologies, particularly emphasizing minority perspectives and feminist theory.
