My name is Yulia Kanatenko, and I am a professionally trained and certified piano educator with over 25 years of teaching experience. I specialize in working with children and fostering a deep love for music in young learners.

I hold an Associate Degree in Music Teaching for Children from the Saint Petersburg College of Music, Russia, Department of Piano. Additionally, I am certified as a music teacher for kindergarten and elementary school, a conductor of children’s choirs, and a concertmaster (Saint Petersburg, Russia, 1997–2001). My classical music education began at the Rachmaninov Classical Music School in Saint Petersburg, where I studied from 1990 to 1998.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching students in Russia (2003-2008), the USA, state California (2008-2019) and Sweden (2019- present), tailoring my methods to meet the diverse needs of learners from various cultural backgrounds. I am passionate about nurturing talent, encouraging creativity, and building a strong musical foundation for every student. My goal is to inspire young musicians while fostering their technical and artistic growth.

🎹 TEACHING STYLE:

I believe music education should be both enjoyable and inspiring. My teaching approach is patient, clear, and supportive, with lessons tailored to suit each student's individual learning style, goals, and musical preferences.

I emphasize building a strong technical foundation while fostering creativity and self-expression. Lessons integrate a variety of methods and materials, encouraging exploration of different genres and techniques. Whether you're preparing for a performance, learning a favorite piece, or starting your musical journey, I will provide a structured, personalized plan to guide your progress.

My goal is to create a positive, motivating environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing as musicians. Together, we’ll work at a pace that ensures steady progress toward your musical aspirations.

🎹 CURRICULUM:

My curriculum combines technical skill-building with creative exploration to ensure balanced musical growth. Lessons include:

For Beginners: Foundational texts focused on technique and musicality.
For Advanced Students: Customized materials and repertoire tailored to individual interests and goals.
I recommend method books, sheet music, and online resources based on each student’s needs and encourage students to bring any specific materials they wish to explore.

Every lesson is thoughtfully designed to nurture both technical skills and a lifelong appreciation for music.
