If, somehow, you missed it: we’re doing a Bootcamp in Japan this autumn 🇯🇵

Resilient Revival Bootcamp takes place in Odaka, a rural town in Fukushima Prefecture shaped by the disasters of 2011, and by the long work of evacuation, return, renewable energy, and rebuilding community.

This October, students will travel there to learn directly from the people and initiatives shaping Odaka’s future.

It's a rare opportunity to experience entrepreneurship on the ground while learning how renewable energy, policy, business, and community interests come together, alongside students from different disciplines, universities, and parts of the world.

Apply before 30 August: https://www.sses.se/event/resilient-revival-bootcamp/

• Communicate your work to people outside your field
• Build a clearer roadmap for where your research could go next

It’s open to PhD students from all disciplines, which means it’s also a chance to meet and learn from peers who are asking similar questions but from completely different perspectives.

Putting together your schedule for fall?

If you’re a PhD student, you might want to add this to it.

“Research Value: From Insight to Impact” is a course for PhD students from all disciplines who want to come closer to making their research matter.

You’ll work on practical skills like communicating your research to broader audiences, mapping its value, and building a roadmap for where it could go next.

You’ll also meet other scholars and researchers working through similar questions, with plenty of room to exchange ideas, perspectives, and probably a few phone numbers too.

The course fee will be waived for all admitted participants.

It’s a great opportunity for anyone who wants their research to create some actual ripples – whether that’s in their career, their field, or the wider world.

New PhD course is open for signups!

This one is for anyone doing their PhD, regardless of field, who wants their research to make a difference.

Because doing research is one thing. Being able to explain why it matters, who it matters to, and where it could go next is another.

In “Research Value: From Insight to Impact”, you’ll work with tools, mentors, and peer feedback to map the value of your research across personal, societal, and potential commercial dimensions.

You’ll practise communicating your work to broader audiences, explore innovation and impact methods, and leave with a personalised roadmap for taking your research further.

Another has landed 📣

This one’s about how we can think about integrating AI in entrepreneurship education, something we know many educators are currently working through – whether entirely voluntarily or not.

Heather Bell and Robin Bell's conceptual paper offers a framework that can hopefully help both educators and students, as AI keeps shifting what entrepreneurs do and, naturally, what future entrepreneurs need to learn.

A huge thank you to Chris Rider for joining us at SSES again and sharing his knowledge so generously with this year’s "Designing Empirical Research in Entrepreneurship" participants.

Research design can get messy fast, but with the right guidance, it becomes a little sharper, clearer, and less intimidating.

Another edition of “Assessing the Value of Medical Innovation” has come to an end 🎓

In this intense and rewarding course run, the participating PhD students and researchers came together from a range of different disciplines to explore what it takes for research to create value beyond the lab.

Between company visits, expert perspectives, case work, final projects, and a well-earned closing scavenger hunt around Stockholm, participants got a firsthand look at the complex journey from research to real-world impact.

A huge thank you to course leader Dr. Samer Yammine, our partners at Karolinska Institutet and the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, and all the guest speakers and organisations who shared their expertise throughout the course.

And of course, thank you to all participants for the curiosity, engagement, and thoughtful discussions that made this year's course such a great experience.
