NFGL Event: Productive 'fika' networking - Svenska institutet Welcome to this event bringing students from all over Stockholm together to network and find opportunities for future collaborations.

NFGL Local Network Karolinska Institutet visits Novo Nordisk pharmaceutical company Sifat Bin Rouf, Chairperson of NFGL Local Network Karolinska Institutet, recalls his network's trip to Novo Nordisk pharmaceutical company in Denmark.

On April 13th, Karolinska Local Network organized a Study Visit to the headquarter of Novo Nordisk - of one of the biggest Global Healthcare Company with more than 90 years of Innovation in Diabetes Care.

Study Visit was attended by more than 20 SI Scholars from 5 different NFGL Local Networks. All attendants had a great opportunity to listen to the presentations of 5 presenters from different Departments of Novo.

The event lasts for 4 hours during which we were introduced the most significant aspects of the company's success and leadership in the pharmaceutical market.
We had a great opportunity to listen to the Alumni of Karolinska Institutet who are already employed at Novo Nordisk and their personal way to the company. Apart from that, we had an honour to have a VP of Corporate Sustainability of the company - Susanne Stormer who shared with us the key moments of CSR for any companies.

The event was closed with the Panel Discussion that lasted for approximately an hour considering a big interest from the attendants side.

We would thank NFGL Global Network for this absolutely incredible chance and the possibility to get one step closer to the desired company/position for most of the attendants!

Here is our first contribution to "SI News" given by our network member - Shorena Tsindeliani

‘Having a strong support network can empower you’ SI News catches up with master’s student Shorena Tsindeliani of Georgia, who represents the NFGL Local Network at Karolinska Instiutet to find out how she’s been settling into Sweden, and what advice she has for other international students.

On the 14th of December, our team member Tsindeliani had an opportunity to attend the UN City Tour in Copenhagen, Denmark organized by SI NFGL Malmo.

The tour included a presentation on SDGs as wells as the guide tour of the UN city. Moreover, had a good opportunity to walk through the city and see the main sightseeing of a wonderful Denmark.
A nice Fika was the pleasant end of the day.

November 25th. Over 800 people from all over the world. Lighthouse with 7 amazing speakers and 2 artists who shared their enlightening experience of live and ideas… Ideas that brought inspiration and light into all the attendants life.

With the support of SI, Karolinska Institute’s local network had the honor to invite 15 SI Scholars within the Sweden to enjoy one of the most expected Stockholm’s event - TEDx Stockholm Talks.These talks included topics on technology, entertainment, education, science, society, design… All the SI holders had the opportunity to consider past and future of music, realize on how data can not only explain, but also empower us to break glass ceilings, how and what will prevail and emerge the industry, what we can learn by crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a row boat, and how to restructure our home so that we will not need planets of resources to support our needs in twenty years.

Here are some of the reflections of the SI Scholars after attending the event:

“…I really amazed to here Ameenah Gurib-Fakim speech who is a famous biologist & the president of Mauritius. She gave Talk (recorded) on “Humble plants that hide surprising secrets”. In her TED Talk, she introduced us to the baobab tree, one of the incredible species that grows in the biodiversity hotpot of Mauritius and which could hold the key to the future of food.”

“…I have attained a delightful event in Stockholm called TEDx light house. The event gave me a lifelong experience on how to get out of the comfort zone to be a successful person and the need for to take a risk to reach my goal…I really enjoyed the speak delivered by Michele Benincaso, a world class luthier, on how to approach peoples demand by creating an innovative way which is unique and ahead of time…”

“I enjoyed most the first talk by Stefan Erlandsson. His approach to challenges was to say let’s go for it….I feel more confident now…All I can think about is let’s go for it…”
