Great learnings this week on how to prioritize between investing in long-term innovation and learning on one hand and delivering short-term quarterly results on the other.
Research reveals the successes of step-by-step approaches within existing businesses. Innovation can be boosted by
- exploring new opportunities early and with a low profile,
- piloting together with consciously selected customers, and then
- scaling with autonomy.
An organizational framework of small innovation teams collaborating with start-ups and reporting to both R&D/Innovation and Business Units has proved to be effective.
