Open Door Session, MONDAY 4th May, 17:00 – 20:00
.brink
”As spring arrives, over in Gröndal we are having a bit of a change. We are switching our monthly Open Door Session to take place on Mondays. A different day but a familiar format: conversations about what we are working with, a drink and some simple food we have prepared in the space.
We hope you will join us for OPI Lab’s first Monday evening Open Door Session, Monday 4th May, 17:00-20:00 at the storefront in Gröndal. This time, you’ll get a sneak peek into what we are planning for A Day in Lövholmen on Saturday 6th June, as OPI Lab participants work on developing their sketches, propositions and prototypes for the future of Lövholmen.”
No RSVP is needed.
OPI Lab, Gröndalsvägen 1, 117 66 Stockholm
(Metro: Liljeholmen / Tram: Trekanten.

Kungl.

Men/ding – Spinoff
Men/ding was conceived as a durational performance-installation rooted in notions of emotional and physical labor that I have carried through together with my sibling.
As an extension, behind closed doors, I have relied on the same methodology: hosting - transmitting - practicing, but instead of handling each other’s bodies, I’ve proposed that we partner with clay. Each sculpture has been handbuilt by one of us, with no further instruction than the basics on how to work with clay.
The tactile and time sensitive nature of ceramics made it the perfect body to labor with.
These objects are what resulted from our morning studio session before afternoon practice at Galleri Mejan.

In the Royal Institute of Art’s (KKH) conversation series ”Conversations on the Conditions of Art”, a variety of actors – from artists and curators to gallery owners, opinion leaders and institutional leaders – come together to seek to capture voices and insights about the role of art in a time of change.
On 16 April, Sanne Kofod Olsen will meet Cecilia Hillström, gallerist, for a conversation.
Date: 16/4
Time: 16.00
Place: Royal Institute of Art, lecture hall ”Örnen”
The conversation will be held in English. This spring’s series of conversations will not be recorded, but compiled into a collective reflection by Sanne Kofod Olsen.
Cecilia Hillström
Following several years of involvement in other art projects, Cecilia Hillström established her gallery in the gallery district on Hudiksvallsgatan in 2012. Among other contributions, she co-founded the MARKET art fair in 2006 and has served on the board of Moderna Museets Vänner.
Cecilia is an art historian and holds a degree from the Stockholm School of Economics. After initially working in the financial sector, she studied art history in New York, Stockholm and Rome.
Today, Cecilia Hillström Gallery represents some 25 artists and presents around ten exhibitions per year. The gallery also participates in international art fairs. The gallery’s stable includes both younger artists and more established ones, many of whom have studied at the Royal Institute of Art.
