Term may have finished, but the work of our students continues to be acknowledged and to have a life after the year ends. Two anthologies have just been published for Sustainable Poetry 2026, and both feature the work of SIS students.

The Swedish anthology includes a poem by Victoria from grade 11, whose work won her a Diploma from the Sustainable Poetry Organisation. The English language anthology includes work by students who have been part of an Erasmus project between Sweden, Serbia, Turkey, and Italy.

As the teacher driving the Sustainable Poetry initiative in the School, Anna Söderström is to be congratulated on this three-year project that has allowed our students to shine.

SIS performers recently took part in a student-organised talent show. Lead organiser, Lorenzo, reflects on the event.

''Last week SIS continued its annual tradition of hosting yet another incredible talent show to mark the ending of the year. With over 20 performers in the show, we saw musical, choreographed, filmmaking, instrumental, and acrobatic talents. This year's talent show sought to open the stage for all forms of artistry and creativity found here at SIS!

So many students from different grades and schools were all invited to the aula in Norra Latin to show their creative gifts, and no performance fell short of flawless. It was an honour to get to see everyone's performances, and so moving to see students come together to support one another. This incredible event celebrated the many forms of art that make not only our SIS community, but our community of International Schools stand out from others.

Student Council also hosted yet another bake sale at the show, meant to help the Nature Youth Group of Sweden (NYS) in their actions to bring change to protect Sweden’s ecosystems and wildlife. This was a continuation of Student Council's actions in “Earth Week” back in April, when members of the student body came together to plan activities that helped raise more than 4600kr for the NYS cause, while also showing love from SIS to the NYS!!!

Congratulations to the three winners of the event, and thank you to each and every one of the performers. You all are so incredibly gifted, and your talent does not go unnoticed by us at SIS. Thank you to all the parents, friends, and teachers who came to support and enjoy the talent show’s performances! Lastly, thank you so much to the Nepal Project, SIS Arts department, Student Council members, the NYS, Ms. Sethi, Ms. Flint, & lights and tech crew for the event.

This project truly brought so many of us together around the idea of supporting the arts and artists within our community. The love and passion that was so present in the room that day, only enforces our belief to continue the appreciation and celebration of the artists who continue to make a difference in our community and lives at SIS.''

JUST A FEW HOURS to kick off in the FIFA Men's World Cup tournament. The biggest ever, with 48 teams participating. Only 48? At SIS we've got over 60 nationalities in the school, so some of us are going to have to adopt a team to cheer on in the coming weeks.
We've been celebrating this diversity since long before Sweden went down to Brazil in the 1958 final. And as our 75th year rapidly approaches, we'll continue to enjoy sharing cultures, histories, experiences, as well as points of difference, in our globally-minded international community.
How fitting then, that the grounds of Norra Latin will play host to one of the central Stockholm fan parks during the World Cup. Matches are being broadcast live on a big screen, and the free, alcohol-free fan park runs daily from June 11 through July 19, featuring international food trucks, music, and soccer activities.
No doubt all of our successful soccer teams will be tuning in to watch. Of course, the match schedules might require they alter their sleep pattern for a few weeks if they intend to catch them all live!

And so the class of '26 take their leave after a joyous and fun-filled celebration of their SIS years. Proud parents, and just-as-proud teachers, joined the revelries to wish them well in the next phase of their academic career. As an international school, the Swedish Utspring tradition might be a surpise for some of our students, but they certainly embraced it with gusto! Well done class of '26, and good luck in the future. You're alumni now, and always welcome back to the SIS family!

As our academic year draws to a close, our First Tech Challenge team, Frostbite Robotics, is looking back on exciting months of collaboration, teamwork, strategy, engineering, coding, and competition. And success in those competitions too! STEM education at SIS is high on our agenda and our students prove every day that it is high on their priorities too. They're looking forward to next year already...

Learning through play took centre stage in Grade 9 today.

Students were challenged to create educational games for younger children, combining fun with valuable learning opportunities. The results were many and varied—from reinvented board games and portable activity packs to sensory learning experiences, strategy challenges, and even a 3D puzzle to assemble a basic model of Manhattan.

After researching how games support child development, students designed and built working prototypes using skills such as woodworking, clay modelling, and crafting. Their creations would help develop literacy, numeracy, motor skills, problem-solving, and creativity—all while keeping play at the heart of the experience.

This project was a fantastic showcase of innovation, teamwork, design thinking, and hands-on learning. It also showed how being an IB Continuum School shares knowledge and öearning across the years. Proof that when creativity and learning come together, great things happen!

THIS VERY DAY, 25 years ago, Stockholm International School was officially declared 'authorized to offer the Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate and present candidates for examination'.
And having just presented candidates for examination, we can't help but take great satisfaction in the generations we have guided, admire their success in the world, and rededicate ourselves to using this distinct, challenging programme to produce resilient, imaginative, lifelong learners.
We are confident the Class of '26 will continue our track record of exceeding national and global averages in the key metrics of IB Diploma success. And as the School as a whole looks forward to the beginning of its 75th year in August, we know our Class of '27 is already hard at work preparing to be global citizens and changemakers in the world.

SIS is proud to be shaping the global classroom through research and collaboration with an international research project led by University College London and funded by Honda Research Institute, exploring how culture influences the way people perceive and interact with educational technology.

Fifteen students from Grades 6, 7, 8, and 10 have partnered with students from a school in rural eastern Uganda to investigate themes of technology, culture, inequality, and global citizenship. Through online exchanges and research activities, they have gained valuable insights into different educational experiences while developing empathy, critical thinking, and intercultural understanding.
The project's findings will contribute to the development of culturally aware educational robots, including Honda’s next-generation social robot, Haru, designed to support learning across diverse communities.

Beyond the research itself, our students have embraced the opportunity to build meaningful global connections, deepen their understanding of real-world challenges, and even initiate fundraising efforts to support their partner school.
A special thank you to SIS Learning Support Teacher Evi Markou for leading this initiative, and to the SIS Spirit Fund for supporting the next phase of the project, including a cultural immersion experience through traditional Ugandan dance and music.

This project exemplifies the power of education to connect communities, inspire global citizenship, and prepare students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
