We know it can be hard to believe, but it is possible to find time for what really matters to you.

It is possible to get rid of guilt and find your joy back, without performing worse at work. A happy, energetic version of you will perform better!

We know this is possible, since others have achieved it thanks to a group course we now offer specifically for teachers.

"I am now subconsciously managing my time which shows to me that the behaviour has become almost like second nature to me. I have been able to fit in more evening activities to progress my life outside of work and actually work on my hobbies to potentially develop them into another profession!" Jyoti, HR administration and stand-up comedian

"Changes I have implemented as a result of this program have had a very positive impact on my life. The group discussions were a major asset to the program, learning from the experiences of others and including their practices in my life greatly helped with my time management skills and in turn increased my energy to enjoy more activities in my personal life improving my relationships which I am truly thankful for. I feel I am in control of my time; I am making conscious effort not to allow others eat my time, my skills at delegating have improved and I no longer feel guilty about it." Helen, product manager.

We start in April. If you want to make this the year when you stop stressing and start enjoying life, follow the link and book a coaching call with us!

Oftentimes we work closely with colleagues and students without taking the time to talk about the deeper issues. We might not think we have the time to talk about how we use our time. Or talk about how we can find our passion back.

In the Holistic Time Management for Teachers group coaching program, you get to be part of a group you will meet weekly and you will receive skilful coaching that will help you and the other participants bring out the passionate and calm teacher you really are.

The power of the group is amazing. The relationships that grow from transforming your lives together are of the deep kind. They will outlast the coaching program by far.

📝 Recently I have spoken to some of my students about keeping their to-do lists.

📲 Some of them felt very strongly about using Excel or digital planners, because these tools make it easier to move your tasks around. However, others felt comfortable putting their tasks on post-its.

💃 Don’t get caught up in what others are doing or what you think you should do. Just remember that you can always tweak your planning system as you go, and adapt it to your current situation. Make it simple and usable for yourself.

🤹‍♀️ I myself use a Trello board and two paper planners – one for work and one personal planner that includes a journal and a habit tracker. That’s what works for me now.

🍀 What planning system do you use? Let us know in the comments!

Your teacher superpower

As a beginning teacher, you often try to do teaching “right”.

This makes sense since you are building your experience and finding your way of teaching.

After a while you will notice what your superpower is.

Some students love when their teacher is a bit goofy. Some teachers use their kindness to build great relationships with their students.

What is your teaching superpower?

Being you. Also in the classroom.

Hovering as a teacher

Some teachers hover in the classroom.

Checking in on the students, being available.

This is a great way to be present and to help those who are not likely to ask for help if you are sitting at a desk far away from them.

It can also take its toll on you.

You may need to postpone the admin related to the lesson to afterwards and if you don’t have a break between the lessons you may end up with a chunk of work to do after the school day.

By then you may be exhausted and the admin from the first lessons of the day will take extra time and energy.

Care for your students – for instance by hovering and being available.

Also care for yourself.

Give yourself some time during or shortly after a lesson to catch up to avoid a big backlog hanging over your head.

How do you deal with interruptions? I’m going to be the first one to admit – not so well! 😂

I don’t know what your teachers’ room is like, but there are around ten of us in ours, and then seven more in two other rooms.

That’s a lot of people, and probably at any time some kind of conversation is going to be happening. We also cooperate a lot at our school, which is amazing on one hand, but can be distracting on the other. It means that there will be many questions and interruptions.

I myself don’t like being interrupted, but since I will have to ask other teachers something at some point, it’s only natural to expect they will do the same.

How do you feel about this? What can be done?

Recently I have found out that open plan offices are not considered to be the best solution because of this very issue. That’s why some offices are implementing so called “silent hours”, when it is encouraged that people communicate only if something is urgent, so everyone can concentrate on their work.

What do you think? Would you like to try silent hours in your teachers’ room? Do you think it would work?

Rest-based teaching

Increase efficiency and joy with rest-based teaching!

“Last week I let the students, and myself, stretch every 15 minutes during the lesson. I noticed how helpful it was. Both for them and me!”

One of the lovely participants in our Holistic Time Management group coaching program shared this with the group recently.

It made me think of the training I do. It is called rest-based training. Work hard- Rest hard. Don’t pace yourself. Give it all and then take a rest.

What works for our bodies works for our brains as well.

Give yourself, and your students, regular breaks and you will see better results – and feel better!
