Headphones ON! Head🎧 Time for some Brazilian music…+ubass! :) Back in 2010 I was fortunate getting to know Mr Nelson Faria when he was a guest professor at the Örebro University in Sweden. We got to play and I help record a duo album with him and the amazing cellist, .tavares.musica When I saw this reel I felt the need to play-along hoping me and Nelson will be able to play in-person soon again! :) I really enjoyed this duo performance. Great pandeiro playing by here! I need to put in some practice time with my very own pandeiro from Rio! Nelson has his own podcast/video/café program Please cheo@it out for lots of great music with exiting musical guests!

I saw this amazing reel a while back and wondered if I could add a bass part. Playing super groovy and awesome keyboards here is Mr Goldings is always amazing to hear. I’ve used the Kala/LaBella flat wound strings on my fretted 4-string solid body for quite some time now. Just recently I finally changed for the flat wounds on my fretless 5-string solid body. These strings are the best string option (available on the market so far) for the solid body u•basses with magnetic mic in my opinion. They work great with the scale length and using different playing techniques can really help shape the tone. In this video I play mostly thumb mute style but change for regular finger style plucking for the solo. If you own a fretless (or fretted) solid body u•bass (or are ”on the fence” of getting one) these strings could be just what you need to get your preferred tone too!

Merry Christmas to YOU!
It’s Christmas time and I decided to arrange the super classic song ”White Christmas” for solo I recorded my arrangement with the Solid Hawaiian Koa acoustic/electric UBass. It has the Flat Spirals. I recorded without any overdubs or edits with a condenser mic and the built-in piezo and blended the two.
I’m thinking of doing a dedicated lesson on how to play this arrangement. Let me know if you want to learn how to play it! 🎄🎅

From a recent rehearsal with the blues band. First time playing our version of ”Wade in the water”. I used my new fretted Solid Hawaiian Koa with (Flat spirals) Great option for an upright-like tone on the -electric

Rhumba Blues! Kala Solid Body UBass and Trickfish Amplification. This time using half the amp stack. Trickfish Bullhead Mini 500 and the TF112M cab. Compact but powerful.
