Thought I would share this bit of advice regarding anti-septic wipes which came in a few days ago......

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has advised the public and healthcare providers to immediately stop using and dispose of specific non-sterile alcohol-free wipes contaminated with Burkholderia stabilis bacteria. Affected brands include ValueAid, Microsafe, Steroplast, and Reliwipe. These, and any non-sterile alcohol-free wipes, must not be used on broken skin or wounds.

Contamination Danger: The wipes are contaminated with Burkholderia stabilis, which can cause severe infections in vulnerable individuals, with cases, hospitalisations, and at least one death linked to their use.

Recommendation: Check all first aid kits and medical supplies. Immediately dispose of these products and do not use them for cleaning skin, wounds, or intravenous lines.
