How to get your songs wide
Katy Perrys latest albums have been very mediocre.
An artist at her level should be able to have better songwriters.
I was about to start with a new song today. But when I listen to the main melody, I don’t think it’s strong enough.
Now I go back to writing other melodies
The song ”Levels” by Avicii is a great mixed track, but it’s not so wide.
Todays tracks are a bit wider if you pay attention.
In that area around 2011-2017 music production has evolved.
They play a song at my gym a lot nowadays. The song is very bad with very simple piano and a girl who sings out of tune. Hahaha! 😂
To get your song to be as loud as the pro songs without having distortion or too much compression can be very challenging.
Some new Taylor Swift songs are extremely loud and you can hear the harshness of the cymbals. It would be better if the song would have lower levels.
Maybe the most succesfull song the past five years, ”Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd. The volume of that song is a bit lower than many other tracks and still it works fine.
Conclusion. Your song doesn’t have to have insane volume to be succesfull. If your slightly lower loudness wise than the commercial tracks, you’re gonna be just fine 😉
