The OncoAlert ASCO 5k Registration Registration for the OncoAlert ASCO 5k to be held on June 1st, 2024 at 7am local time and will start at the Hyatt Regency McCormick place, up to Chicago Harbour and ending at the starting place

The 2024 version of the European Association of Urology (EAU)-European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM)-European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO)-European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR)-International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP)-International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) guidelines for clinically localised prostate cancer (PCa) provide comprehensive recommendations on screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

Based on a thorough review of new data from May 2020 to 2023, the guidelines emphasize a risk-adapted approach, advocating for personalized screening starting at age 50 and utilizing multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging to reduce unnecessary biopsies. Active surveillance is recommended for low-risk PCa, including selected favorable intermediate-risk cases, while various local therapies and hypofractionation are discussed for intermediate-risk patients. Additionally, patients with nodal involvement are advised on combined local treatment and long-term hormonal therapy.

The guidelines underscore the evolving nature of PCa management and highlight the importance of multidisciplinary care.

Study investigates the efficacy and safety of ☢ stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) in treating patients with ≥15 brain metastases🧠 (BM), aiming to assess cognitive outcomes, survival metrics, and safety compared to whole brain radiation therapy (WBRT).

Analyzing institutional data from 2014 to 2022, the study found that SRS, particularly fractionated SRS, demonstrated favorable outcomes with low rates of radiation necrosis and stable/improved cognitive scores in a significant proportion of patients. Patients without prior brain radiation exhibited longer median survival, suggesting SRS as a viable alternative to WBRT.

The study underscores the importance of further randomized trials comparing SRS and hippocampal avoidance WBRT for patients with numerous BMs.
