Our students have been diving into some incredible hands-on projects to wrap up the school year. Here’s a quick look at what they’ve been up to:
🍦 MYP1 Science: To finish their States of Matter unit, students conducted a delicious, 10-minute experiment making homemade ice cream! By using salt to lower the freezing point of ice, they explored endothermic processes and watched liquid cream rapidly transform into a solid treat. Chemistry and physics have never tasted so good!
🌍 MYP3 Design: In their Clay and Community unit, students explored the concept of perfection. They started digitally by learning advanced 3D sculpting tools in Blender to create stunning digital spheres. Next, they took the challenge offline with Hikaru Dorodango—the Japanese art of creating shiny, polished spheres out of raw dirt and clay. After weeks of sifting soil, extracting clay, and refining their process through "heroic failures," they created beautiful physical models and instruction sheets to pass on their knowledge.
From tasty science experiments to patient artistic refinement, we are so proud of our students' creativity, critical thinking, and dedication! 🙏

Congratulations to our athletes in the PYP!!!
Last week the upper PYP took part in an athletics competition against ISLK school. The day was filled with enthusiasm, fair play and solidarity.
LIS emerged victorious, winning 11 of the 18 events.
Results were determined by the quickest times, the longest jumps, and the best-of-three tug-of-war contests.
Throughout the competition, students, whether participating or cheering from the sidelines, showed excellent team spirit by encouraging each other, celebrating the winners, and showing respect and magnanimity toward those who did not win.

Sincerest congratulations are in order for the entirety of MYP4 following a spectacular performance of Pride and Prejudice last week.
It proved to be an excellent evening of theatre, marked by charismatic performances that did immense justice to Jane Austen's timeless work.
The care, diligence, and dedication applied to every line were thoroughly evident in the confidence and thespian professionalism brought to the stage! To see the story conveyed with such faithfulness and feeling was a credit to the entire ensemble; it was a captivating production from start to finish.
A particular note of gratitude goes to Ms. Rose, whose tireless dedication and direction brought the entire show to life. The production benefited immensely from her highly capable and inspiring leadership at the helm.

On Saturday, LIS staff participated in the annual Lundaloppet, and the day proved to be a tremendous success for everyone involved!
With race distances ranging from 2.5 km to 10 km, some approached the challenge competitively, others enjoyed a steady jog at their own pace, while several chose to take a more leisurely walk through the course.
The atmosphere was uplifting, filled with laughter, encouragement, and a strong sense of team spirit and camaraderie. Regardless of pace or distance, everyone had something to celebrate, making the experience extremely rewarding!

On Saturday March 14th the ceremony for the Pangea Maths Competition took place in Stockholm.
One student from MYP1 placed 8th out of 1875 in her competition and another student in MYP4 placed 4th out of 1402 students in his category. Both families travelled to Stockholm for the ceremony with Mr. Priya also in attendance. Whilst there, another student in MYP 2, who accompanied her brother, participated in an 'open to all' and won 2nd place with 1st and 3rd places being won by adults.
We are incredibly proud of the work the students have done, of all the students who have participated and of how the maths competitions have become an integral part of our school year. Thank you to the Maths Department for their work with the students!
Over the next two weeks, 37 students will participate in the Kangaroo Maths Competition. We wish them the best of luck!
