The big day of the year at the IIIEE. Very proud to see this fantastic group fly out of the nest 🥰

The masters thesis presentations is a time of the year when we are curious to see what our great students have come up with - and also a moment when we end up filled with pride.

Batch 31 in our classic Master in Environmental Management and Policy proved themselves very worthy of their upcoming degrees during our thesis defense week. Impressive! :)

We warmly congratulate our dear Karolina Södergren to her PhD! Successfully defended in presence of family, friends and colleagues. Well done and our best wishes for the coming steps in life and career :)

We are not alone in the challenges we are facing. There have been big struggles before and our ancestors did a lot of courageous things - that we can seek inspiration from.

Our favorite film director Carl Eneroth ran an event last week during the LU Sustainability week that impacted us :)

Courage doesn’t start with us, it runs through generations 🌿✨ 🎬 As part of Sustainability Week 2026 at Lund University, we gathered for Stand with Courage, a powerful film by director Carl Eneroth that reminded us what it means to stand up for something that matters. But it didn’t end there. In the workshop that followed, thoughtfully facilitated by the organising team around Lotte Krüger and Andres Krasnikovas from the IIIEE, we turned inward. Reflecting on our grandparents, their choices, their resistance, their quiet acts of bravery, we began to see how courage is carried forward through time 🕊️ It made us ask: what do we stand for today, and how can we make a difference? 💡 🎥: Hanna Kukavica and Jonas Schmitt.

We are happy to welcome our new colleague Haein Cho to the IIIEE! She stepped right into a full staff day!

She was our favorite pick among many applicants for our senior position on sustainable AI. Exciting times ahead! :)

We have had a real winter but now it is coming to an end. So a last cheer for the snow & a good weekend to all our insti friends around the world :)

A day out in process industry. How to make paper products and textiles from wood. Sustainability manager Nilla & her crew at Södra Cell Mörrum hosted us for an insightful visit. Process improvements, environmental technology investments, policy pushing: a nice holistic blend of the realities in a modern industrial plant. Great learning! :)

There are many types of outcomes from a master program. One of our favorite ones is a real iiiee-family. Here Max & Tati, graduates since 12 years back, visiting with daughter. Sweet professor-student reunion ❤️
