“A tremendous impact on the transformation towards a sustainable future” 15/01/2024

“A tremendous impact on the transformation towards a sustainable future” – Lund University is part of WISE, the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability, the largest-ever investment in materials science in Sweden.
Financed by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, WISE is now investing 500 million SEK (45 million Euros) for equipment and infrastructure at seven universities in Sweden to establish a national infrastructure for research into sustainable materials. Close to 90 million SEK are dedicated to Lund.

Our warmest congratulations to Christelle Prinz, Professor of Solid State Physics and a principal investigator at NanoLund, who has been awarded a European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept Grant for her research into creating cost-effective diagnostics for the early detection of ovarian cancer.

“The test will allow doctors to identify women at risk of developing ovarian cancer. It will be complementary to existing methods such as biopsies and transvaginal ultrasounds,” Christelle Prinz says.

Welcome to Euro Nano Forum 2023 05/04/2023

Registration is open!

Every second year, Euro Nano Forum brings industry, academia, policymakers, and other stakeholders together to discuss developments in nanotechnologies in an open forum. Thus, this is a conference that can build on an excellent track record and an interested audience.

At NanoLund, we are proud co-organizers and we are happy to let our Deputy Director Maria Messing welcome you to this event.

Nanotechnology and advanced materials play a central role in achieving the changes we need for the “Green Deal” – a set of policy initiatives by the European Commission with the overarching aim of a climate-neutral EU. In this twin transition, where tech and data can lead the way towards strong and resilient societies and economies, European research programs are pivotal in supporting the necessary changes.

The inspiring sessions, combined with great networking opportunities, will pave the way to new collaborations and fresh ideas on hot topics like materials for fossil-free energy production; energy storage and energy efficiency; novel applications for 2D materials; new materials for future chips; and how “safe and sustainable” can be included from the start.

Euro Nano Forum 2023 is your chance to interact with important leaders from the industry, the European Commission, and academia, as well as European interest groups and initiatives. Posters and exhibits are welcome and free of charge!

Stepping out of the comfort zone – kick-off with the new NanoLund Mentoring program 14/02/2023

Stepping out of the comfort zone!

The NanoLund mentoring program has been established to provide young researchers with independent support and guidance as they navigate their career paths. The ambition is to open new networks and allow program participants to discuss their professional opportunities together with an independent mentor. The other week, we kicked off a pilot round of 12 PhD students, well over halfway through their studies, meeting Tina Persson, PhD and Global ICF coach.

Stepping out of the comfort zone – kick-off with the new NanoLund Mentoring program Lund University. “We have matched them with mentors after the PhD students submitted an application in which they told us a bit about their thoughts and considerations for their career after their PhD. Our aim has been to find mentors outside their research group and preferably outside their organ...
