Hello! 👋 My name is Alaine and I’m a dance educator. I’ve been teaching all over the world since 2001. I danced professionally as a modern dancer in Los Angeles greater area and New York City for many years and have a Bachelors degree in Dance from UCLA. I have taught all ages from 4-100 as well as all levels from beginners to pre-professionals in dance programs at universities. Dance: Sport or Art? — Bodies in Motion Is dance a sport or art? Creativity or acrobatics? Spectacle or culture?

I’m a dork and have been pondering this for a while. Ballet style: Balanchine, Vaganova, Cecchetti, Royal Academy of dance, Bournonville, French School…
I prefer Balanchine dramatic flair, musicality, and athleticism but for teaching beginners- I return to RAD and Cecchetti style because it teaches the student clean lines and positions without the extras. When the students are in the intermediate level, I love the extra reach and full expressive Balanchine style. 🩰❤️🙆🏻‍♀️
