What if the earliest clues to type 1 diabetes are present before we even take our first breath? ⚕️

Researchers have identified a protein pattern that, already at birth, looks markedly different in those who later go on to develop type 1 diabetes. The findings show that a combination of several factors during pregnancy increases the risk of the child later developing the disease.
The study was led by researchers at Linköping University and the University of Florida.

Linköping University will host a new national centre aimed at developing resilient AI systems. 🖥️
The funding of SEK 60 million comes from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF).

“As security threats increase while we simultaneously build a dependency on AI technology in our society, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that this technology is both secure and resilient against various forms of disruption,” says Fredrik Heintz, professor of computer science at LiU.
