When history and archaeology meet the future

A digital research seminar bringing together historians and archaeologists from Ohio State University and Linnaeus University, working on the future.

David Staley is an Associate Professor in the Departments of History and Design at The Ohio State University (United States) and is the author of History and Future: Using Historical Thinking to Imagine the Future. Cornelius Holtorf is an archaeologist and has been holding since 2017 a UNESCO Chair on Heritage Futures at Linnaeus University (Sweden); he is the co-editor (with Anders Högberg) of Cultural Heritage and the Future (Routledge, 2021).

Riksantikvarieämbetet ska producera handsprit till vården

Riksantikvarieämbetets kulturvårdslaboratorium i Visby ska börja tillverka handsprit till vården, rapporterar Sveriges Radios P4 Gotland.

-Vi har ett välutrustat laboratorium i Visby som vi efter kontakt med Region Gotland har ställt till förfogande. Regionen har meddelat att det finns ett behov av handsprit – så nu kommer vi så fort det går börja producera för leverans, säger riksantikvarie Lars Amréus till radion.

10–15 personer från myndigheten kommer att arbeta med tillverkningen, dessutom ställs ytterligare personal till förfogande för Länsstyrelsen och Region Gotland.

-Det är informatörer och registratorer som är beredda att rycka in om läget förvärras och stötta upp krisorganisationen på ön, säger Amréus.

After a week with artist, poet, beatboxer, and activist Napoleon Maddox in Växjö, hosted by the Center for Applied Heritage at LNU, we are all inspired.
Maddox presented his work as an artist and activist in a lecture at LNU, performed for and taught the students at Katedralskolan in Växjö, and participated in a discussion with Dr Hannah Cobb from Newcastle University on the heritage of slavery and the importance of history and heritage in the building of sustainable communities.
