Welcome to Sweden’s most international business school!

Last Wednesday, Campus Arena was filled with energy, ambition, and meaningful conversations as Nextstep Career Fair 2026 brought together students and employers at Jönköping University.

Organized by JIBS Student Association (JSA) since 1994, Nextstep has become a well-established meeting place where students and the business community connect. This year, 42 companies met more than 5,000 visitors, and over 160 students applied for personal contact interviews.

“We want to build a bridge between students and working life. It is so important that they meet relevant companies and get the opportunity to understand the possibilities available to them after graduation,“ says project leader Ella Klintheim.

With a clear ambition to broaden company representation and welcome students from across JU, the fair hosted international and national organizations such as PwC, Uniqlo, IKEA, and Emirates.

Reflecting on her role, Ella shares:

“Nextstep is a fantastic opportunity if you want to engage in a professional committee, work closely with leading companies, and develop more than you think possible. It’s an experience that truly makes a difference.”

Congratulations to Ayesha Manzoor for successfully defendeing her doctoral thesis in Business Administration, titled “The Journey from Resentment to Reconciliation: Exploring Brand Hate in Airline Critical Incidents”!✨🙌

In her doctoral dissertation, Ayesha Manzoor explores brand hate in the airline industry, examining its emotional, behavioral, and cognitive dimensions. Using a mixed-method approach, she uncovers how critical incidents fuel negative emotions and how recovery strategies—rooted in trust and forgiveness—can rebuild brand relationships. Her research offers valuable insights for airlines and beyond, shaping strategies for reputation management and customer recovery.

The Entrepreneurship Day at JIBS held yesterday was fantastic! 🎉
During this event, first-year students from the Entrepreneurship course at JIBS promoted the incredible business ideas they've been working on for several weeks. More than 450 students, divided into 83 teams, all brimming with creative minds and innovative thinking, participated in the fair. All of them brimming with creative minds and innovative thinking.

Warmest congratulations to Akram Mahmoudi, who literally nailed her doctoral thesis in Statistics to the wall on Monday 7 October. The title of her thesis is “Improving Estimation Precision through Optimal Designs and Shrinkage Methods”.

Having a bound and nailed thesis on the board is a huge achievement! 👏

With an entrepreneurial spirit, creative thinking, and unwavering commitment to sustainability, Frida has consistently showcased her passion for creating positive change in the world. As the founder of BabyMocs, a trailblazing brand producing vegan baby shoes, Frida exemplifies her dedication to sustainability and long-term environmental impact. Her recent election into the prestigious Prince Daniel Fellowship further underscores her remarkable contributions and leadership in driving meaningful change.

“It is a true honor to be your Alumna of the Year, and I really appreciate this recognition. JIBS definitely set us all up with a great foundation, and I am very grateful for the opportunities it enables with everything from studying abroad to spending your education years with people from all over the world,” says Frida Grundström.

We are happy to announce that JIBS' latest PhD, Talha Omer, successfully defended his thesis “Shrinkage estimation methods for mixed data sampling regression and heterogeneous autoregressive models” on Friday 13 September.🎉✨

Talha’s thesis, comprising four research articles, focuses on enhancing predictive models in economics and finance. His research introduces improved methods for forecasting U.S. inflation, home ownership vacancy rates, dengue case counts, and stock price volatility. The findings demonstrate superior accuracy compared to traditional models, making valuable contributions to both economic and financial forecasting.
