I’ll be making post in the coming week about various aspects of the Revival, descriptions, ideas and perhaps updates.
todays is more of a response to the question i’ve heard. “Are Skye and Frida teaching Balboa at the Revival”?
No, Skye and Frida will be teaching what they do best, they’ll be bringing their decades long experience to focus on the social idea of partner dancing, be it rhythm, musicality, concepts on leading or following, who knows, but they’ll see what is needed and help us ALL with ideas we can incorporate into what you already do.
The Same question was asked over 10 years ago when Andy Reid came to Teach, “But He isn’t a Balboa dancer!” at some point in dance, once you become at an advanced level, you shed terms and just become a Dancer, and when asking followers who are some of the best closed position leaders, Andy’s name came up, and he came on board as a teacher and has been a success every year, sadly do to Covid restrictions, and economics He is not coming this year.
The event removed the name Balboa for a reason several years ago, when we expanded to include “like minded” dances, by that we mean inward expression as opposed to “outward expression” dances that are or were done to the Dance band Era so we could focus on just the social side of dancing.
Back then we also removed the Contest and Performing, (no sitting, standing, sitting standing), because plenty of events do that and thats fine, but how about we focus on social? Just good music, great floor, Nice bar, areas to sit and chat, or you can dance all night.
So it’s the Revival, just like the old days when everyone filled the floor regardless of tempo, age and ability, after all dancing fast is very easy if you know the simple steps to do so.
I hope to See Everyone!!!! Peter
