ICIA har inget eget permanent publikt utställningsrum, utan arbetar ibland med samtida konstproduktioner utanför den traditionella institutionen och ibland i samarbete med befintliga institutioner. ICIA är partipolitiskt obundet, men politik är en stor drivkraft och i synnerhet konst- och kulturpolitik. Den kritiska konstens relevans är större än någonsin. I ekonomismens tidsanda finns det ett stort behov av platser som vågar diskutera och pröva våra rådande ideal och se till andra mänskliga värden än det direkt mätbara och kortsiktiga. Målet med ICIA är att bli en av de mest angelägna konstorganisationerna i Sverige och att genom olika konstnärliga produktioner, utställningar, publikationer och strategiska uppdrag liksom internationella samarbeten vara med i att utveckla former och förutsättningar för samtidskonstens betydelse i vårt samhälle. ICIA - Institute for Contemporary Ideas and Art is an organisation that unifies the analysis of ideas, art politics and artistic production. ICIA was founded in response to the need for an institute that works strategically with development issues within the art field. Clients include municipalities, regions, art organisations and institutions, as well as businesses that in various ways require professional consultancy regarding structural development areas within contemporary art. ICIA also initiates, runs and executes its own art projects, often in collaborations with other organisations or art institutions. ICIA has no permanent exhibition space of its own, but instead initiating projects with contemporary art that sometime takes place outside of the traditional institutions, and sometime in collaborations with existing institutions and exhibitions spaces. ICIA is politically unaffiliated, but politics is a strong driving force, especially the politics of art. The relevance of critical art is greater than ever. In our times of economism there is a great need for spaces that dare to discuss and test our established ideals and see to other human values rather than just those that are measurable and short-term. ICIA aims to become one of Sweden’s most relevant art organisations and to take part in developing the forms and conditions of the importance of contemporary art in our society through various productions, exhibitions, publications and strategic assignments, as well as international collaborations.
