The British International School of Stockholm offers excellent international education.

The British International School of Stockholm (previously the British International Primary School) is situated in the leafy residential suburb of Djursholm, just 15 minutes from central Stockholm. It provides a high-quality, broad education for around 260 children, from three to sixteen years of age (currently to 13 but expanding to 16 over the next 2-3 years), of more than 45 nationalities. Established in 1980, our school has built a reputation for excellence in both teaching and pastoral care. Skolval at BISS 🗳️

As Sweden marks Election Day today, we look back on our own Skolval at BISS.

Last Thursday, students in Years 10-13 took part in Skolval, a school election initiative that has been held across Sweden for more than 60 years, helping young people learn about democracy and the voting process.

We are very grateful to all the politicians who visited BISS to speak with our students and sparked such an engaging debate.

The much anticipated BISS Skolval results will be available to view from 14 September.

Brainwaves! 🧠

Our Year 1-5 students have been diving into their new IPC topic, Brainwaves, discovering just how amazing our brains are and, importantly, how we learn.

From exploring how the brain works to thinking about memory, sleep, wellbeing and growth mindset, our children are building key knowledge while developing the skills to think, problem-solve, and persevere.

The IPC’s thematic approach makes learning meaningful and engaging, encouraging children to ask questions, make connections and understand more about the world around them. 🌍

We were delighted to host Danderyd Basket at BISS this week! 🏀 Students from Years 2-9 got a taste of the court, diving into dribbling, passing, and shooting drills. Initiatives like these play an important role in encouraging our students to stay active and explore new sports. Last week, a group of our staff took part in Convinistafetten. Glorious weather, plenty of smiles and lots of team spirit made for a fantastic evening outside the school gates! 🏃‍♀️It’s moments like these that help build the strong, supportive team behind our school community.

Our Ekeby students were treated to a special performance by , the Swedish Armed Forces’ largest professional ensemble! Usually reserved for royal weddings and state visits at Stockholm Palace, these elite musicians brought their world-class talent straight to BISS yesterday - seamlessly swapping traditional ceremonial marches for high-energy covers of Kent, Robyn, and Raye. 🎶

Student Leadership in Action 🎤

Looking back at our June Prizegiving, we’re reminded of just how much our students can achieve when they’re given the opportunity to lead.

Planned, scripted and hosted entirely by our Student Government, the evening was a triumph and a wonderful celebration of learning, achievement and talent.

With our upcoming Student Government elections, we’re looking forward to seeing the next group of student leaders step forward and make their mark!

The new school year is officially underway! Yesterday, our students eased back into school life with a gentle soft-start half day - a lovely, relaxed way to reconnect with old friends, welcome new classmates, and settle into their classrooms without feeling overwhelmed.

Today we wrapped up our first full day, packed with energy, learning, and bright smiles across all year groups.

Take a look at a few warm moments captured yesterday as friends reunited and everyone began finding their rhythm for the year ahead. We are so excited for everything this school year will bring! 💙

A warm welcome to our new BISS families! 🏫

Yesterday, we hosted our very first New Family Orientation across both our Primary and Secondary campuses, and what a fantastic day it was.

It was wonderful seeing new faces, introducing key staff members, and walking families through our community, parent platforms, and key contacts to help everyone settle in smoothly. Our current students did an incredible job giving campus tours to their new peers, and families got to hear an insightful presentation from the Friends of BISS parent association on how to get involved.

To top it off, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch sampling courtesy of Kleins. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our first orientation such a success. We are so excited to officially welcome you to the BISS family! 💙
