The work of Heritage Infusion* originates from an investigation of my family's textile heritage. It researches the practice of traditional textile handicrafts, and how this knowledge has been passed down through generations; from great-grandmothers to daughters to grandchildren. The collection is an homage to the women who have influenced my path into the field of textiles and design.
Heritage Infusion* aims to explore the translation of traditional to modern, handmade to digital. Focusing merely on the visual properties of the traditional weaving pattern ‘monks belt’, this surface pattern print collection desires to treat the weaving patterns' pictorial construction as a source of inspiration for how a contemporary print version could be designed using screen printing and transfer printing techniques
