An avid flight simmer in my youth I'm now a Training Captain/Examiner and Instructor flying the Boeing 737 NG and Max. I have logged over 6500 hours on the 737 and over 1500 sim hours as a TRE/TRI. I have used desktop simulators since 2002 and they're a fantastic tool to supplement flight training. The aim of my YouTube channel, flightdeck2sim, is to provide realistic, informative and useful conte

nt to help you enhance your flight simulation experience from the comfort of your own home. The videos are NOT for professional guidance or instruction but to provide an insight to commercial operations, they're purely for entertainment only. You must only consult your approved training material/POH/official guidance from your operator. Questions regarding my employment/employer will be unanswered. If you're a developer, or company and want to get in touch I'd love to hear from you!

From my Visual circuit tutorial livestream, this clip shows a touch and go at Châteauroux-Centre Airport.

The full stream demonstrated a realistic sequence of pre-flight checks, touch-and-goes, and challenging crosswind maneuvers.

MSFS 2024 saw a significant improvement in the simulator’s ground handling and physics compared to MSFS 2020, the PMDG 737 flies in a much more realistic manner.

Flying visual circuits in a simulated 737 is a high workload situation, having to manage complex procedures solo, which would typically require a two-person crew in real-world operations. Despite that, you can still have decent go at attempting visual circuits. #737

Clip from one of my previous streams where I reviewed the then latest beta update for the FlightFactor 757-200 add-on in X-Plane 12.

We flew a real world Delta Air Lines route from Detroit Metropolitan Airport to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport checking out several key enhancements in the beta version which focused on performance improvements, cockpit upgrades, and visual changes.

Nice improvement albeit the controls inputs needed were greater than expected but nonetheless, a successful landing into Savannah. #757

The Reworked Famous Flyer 10: Boeing 707 has been updated for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with help from iniBuilds and Working Title and today I'm taking it for a flight!

If you did try the old version, you’ll remember it was frankly terrible, so we'll take a detailed look at what has changed in the latest update and how convincing the 707 feels in MSFS 2024.

For this flight I'll be flying Air India from Visakhapatnam (VOVZ) to Mangalore International (VOML)

Join me for a two-sector livestream as we fly the LevelUp 737-800, putting the brand-new V2.S1.50 update through its paces.

I’ll be flying the aircraft between Dallas Love Field (KDAL) and San Antonio (KSAT), completing two sectors while providing detailed feedback based on my experience.

We’ll be looking at the update’s flight model, handling, systems, performance, sounds, cockpit functionality and overall realism — highlighting what feels right, what could be improved, and how closely it reflects the real aircraft.

Can LevelUp’s latest update deliver an authentic 737 experience? Let’s find out!

What does a 737 landing look like with constant wind direction and speed changes and how do you respond to these deviations?

Captured my landing into Fukuoka (RJFF) in the ZIBO MOD 737, recorded while participating in our 80th Members Only Group Flight

Two perspectives:

Cockpit view — showing my control inputs throughout the approach and landing.

Cabin view — looking over the wing to show how the aircraft responds to those inputs.

The video demonstrated X-Plane 12’s Weather modelling. Still a bit of refinement needed but just like in real life, you need to make timely inputs to keep the aircraft on its desired path. Watch the aircraft respond through the approach, flare and touchdown - the control inputs are only half the story, I’m having to make a lot of changes in thrust and pitch to stay stable!

Captured takeoff from Tokyo Haneda (RJTT) recorded whilst preparing for our 80th Members Only Group Flight.

x3 perspectives: one camera inside the cockpit, another showing my control inputs and a 3rd external view showing how the aircraft responds in flight.

X-Plane’s Blade Element Theory models the aerodynamic forces acting on an aircraft, I have always loved how aircraft handle in the sim for this reason. You can see those effects developing as the 737 rotates, lifts off and climbs away from the runway.

Ever wondered what happens when you brake too aggressively in a light aircraft?

The new Black Square Commander 114 available at is the first Black Square aircraft to simulate nose wheel shimmy—a real phenomenon familiar to many light aircraft pilots. After a firm landing and heavy braking, the nose gear can enter an oscillation if too much weight is transferred onto it.

In this clip, you’ll see exactly that happen during my latest livestream. It’s a fantastic little detail that adds another layer of realism to an already impressive aircraft.

Come chill out with me tonight on an Evening stream as we fly the Black Square Commander 114 on a cross-country flight from Cardiff (EGFF) to Waterford (EIWF) as I share my first impressions of this great general aviation aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The Commander 114 promises an incredibly deep simulation, featuring advanced piston engine modelling, highly detailed aircraft systems, persistent wear and failures, multiple vintage and modern avionics options, and Black Square's renowned attention to realism.

I always enjoy stepping back into general aviation and I have some fond memories of this aircraft having sat in the back of one for several hours!

A huge thank you to Just Flight ‪for providing preview access to another one of Black Square's excellent creations.

The Colimata Concorde is a reasonably well detailed recreation of the legendary Concorde for X-Plane 12. It allows users to recreate supersonic flight to a certain degree of accuracy. I enjoy flying it along with the unique challenges of operating at Mach 2 in a x3 crewed aircraft in one of aviation’s most iconic airliners.

Sometimes though you can be a little bit too focussed… Back in 2023 we replicated Air France’s first inaugural Dakar–Rio service in X-Plane 12, I somehow forgot one very important item on the approach... the landing
gear. 🤦‍♂️

The result? An unexpected low pass and a go-around that I’ll totally claim was a planned demonstration! 😂.

What does a takeoff look like from three different perspectives?

In this video, I’ve synced the same departure from Zurich into a three-tier split screen, showing:

🛫 Flight deck
✈️ Wing view

The flight was flown in the PMDG 737, with the external wing view captured using an early access version of FlightControlReplay V6.

This video is a collaboration with the FlightControlReplay team as they prepare for the release of their next-generation replay tool. Thanks for early access!
