Becoming a finisher of the utmb has been on my life goals list for a few years now.
Early September I was to fortunate enough to cross that finish line.
It took me 46 hours. 171 km and 10k meters ascent on a course that circumnavigates the Mont Blanc Massif in the alps.
I slept for 10 minutes and stopped for an hour total.
Slower than what I wanted, suffered more than what I wanted.
Utmb, you almost broke me. Only now, a full month after Iβm I starting to enjoy running again.
Finisher VDA 100 miles Val dβaran by utmb with 10.200m ascent. A lot of discomfort for a long time. Almost no flats, just steep never ending climbs and worst descents. All in one piece, a few blisters and a bit tired and happy to have finished. ππΌ ππΌ
Perspective is a a funny thing. Because this was the shortest of two races I had signed up for this summer, I assumed it would be easy. I was so wrong! 50k in was not easy. Going up those steep climbs and downhill on those leg destroying descents almost broke me. 11hrs to finish 50k with 3600m ascent. Next week some more.
