OIU Research Group Definition: Its cooperation in order to increase OIU medical students’ research culture and encour

General objective:
To increase students research culture and encourage the research practice among the medical students of Omdurman Islamic University. Specific objectives:
1- Increase the research knowledge and practice among the students in the faculty of medicine and health sciences in Omdurman Islamic university.
2- To adopt the student’s research and Provide opportunities to interested studen

ts.
3- Encourage the research publishing and exchange.
4- Activation and organization of students exchange program in the faculty.
5- Activation the student’s participation with the staff in interventional studies.
6- Building a strong database to meets the research needs and to evaluate the performance of the Group later.
7- Establishing a research committee with medical education developing center (MEDC) and the faculty of higher medical studies in Omdurman Islamic university.

Background
Most hospital patients receive fluids or medications via an intravenous catheter at some time during their hospital stay. An intravenous catheter (also called an IV drip or intravenous cannula) is a short, hollow tube placed in the vein to allow administration of medications, fluids or nutrients directly into the bloodstream. These catheters are often replaced every three to four days to try to prevent irritation of the vein or infection of the blood. However, the procedure may cause discomfort to patients and is quite costly.
