BEJA CULTURE AT CCST IN PORT SUDAN.
Understanding the culture of the place where you are sent to work is essential for building trust and meaningful relationships with local people.
By learning their traditions, values, and ways of life, you show respect for their identity and dignity.
Cultural awareness helps avoid misunderstandings and allows you to communicate with sensitivity and empathy.
When people feel respected and understood, it becomes easier to love them sincerely and work together harmoniously.

Technology, Cultural Heritage and Scientific Diplomacy
We share the post in the webpage of the Institute of Cultural Heritage - National Research Council of Italy about the book that contains some of the graduation projects of the students of the BSc in Computer Science at CCST.
This book is one of the first scientific texts to present technology applied to cultural heritage as a tool for scientific diplomacy and represents evidence of a successful project in which technology becomes a means of preserving the memory and identity of countries in conflict, such as Sudan.
The latest war in Sudan broke out on April 15, 2023. Several months earlier, the Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences (CNR-Italy), a Sudanese university, the Comboni College of Science and Technology, and the Italian Embassy in Khartoum had begun a collaboration to apply technology to Sudan's cultural heritage.
Unfortunately, time has shown that the training project was particularly relevant to protecting cultural heritage that would be threatened and destroyed by the conflict. This scientific diplomacy project, called "SudanInnovation: A New Sudan Through Culture, Technology, and Innovation," was part of the "Integrated Initiative for the Promotion and Revitalization of the Country System," funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). The book analyses the project and presents it as a point of reference for similar experiences.

Ten years of language, culture, and connections
To celebrate this occasion, we are very happy to share with you a project we have been working on over the past months: an e-book — “Dieci anni di lingua, persone e impatto – Comboni Italian Center”, in Arabic: “عشر سنوات من اللغة والوجوه والأثر، مركز كمبوني الإيطالي” — that brings together the story of the CIC and, most importantly, the voices of the people who have been part of it.
Published in Italian and Arabic, the book traces the journey of the CIC over the past decade — from its early beginnings to today — including the challenges we have faced and the evolution of the Italian language in Sudan. At its core, however, are the stories and experiences of our students, teachers, staff, and wider community.
This is not simply a celebratory publication. It is a collective narrative that reflects what the CIC truly is: a community shaped by people. We believe that meaningful impact starts at the individual level, and that by supporting people in their personal and professional journeys, we can contribute to broader change in society.
Despite everything, we have continued moving forward — and this has only been possible thanks to you: your presence, your dedication, and your trust.
Thank you again for accompanying CIC on this journey.
With warmest regards,
The CIC Team
