The School Knows Itself Better Than Ever: How Khartoum American School Kept Its Curriculum Alive Amid Crisis - Atlas 24/04/2026

At Khartoum American School, Curriculum is not just a component of what we do, it is one of our four core pillars, shaping every learning experience and guiding our students’ growth.

We are proud to share a powerful case study by Faria Education Group and their platform Atlas Rubicon, which highlights how our curriculum became the foundation that sustained us through one of the most challenging periods in our history.

When conflict forced the closure of our campus in Sudan and displaced our community across borders, our curriculum did not stop. Through Atlas, it continued to live, evolve, and connect our students and teachers — wherever they were in the world.
As our Superintendent, Kerry Jacobson, shared:
“We have been blessed with many wonderful partnerships that have sustained us during this time of exile. The partnership between KAS and Faria Education Group has been one of those key relationships. In this case, we could not have remained KAS without it.”

Most schools think of curriculum as something that lives within classroom walls. At KAS, we learned through resilience and innovation that curriculum can live anywhere.

We are deeply grateful for partnerships that empower us to continue delivering meaningful, high-quality education to our globally dispersed community.

We were truly honored to host such a special evening of community, connection, and shared traditions here in Cairo!

It was a pleasure welcoming Public Affairs Officer Steve Aguzin and bringing together our Sudanese families, students, educators, and friends over iftar during this meaningful time of Ramadan. The evening reflected the spirit that defines Khartoum American School: community, belonging, and cultural connection.

We are especially grateful for the thoughtful gesture presented to our Superintendent, Kerry Jacobson, and for the unforgettable performance by the Arpeggione Duo, which added a beautiful touch to the night.

Moments like these remind us of the strength and warmth of our community, no matter where we are in the world.

Wherever you are: Cairo or Alexandria, our KAS community is coming together this Ramadan 🌙

We are honored to host the Arpeggione Duo, an internationally recognized ensemble featuring American guitarist Christopher Kachian and German cellist Thomas Schönberg, known for their expressive performances and unique blend of classical and contemporary repertoire. The duo will be performing in both locations following Iftar.

Join us for evenings filled with Sudanese dishes, warm conversations, music, and community spirit. Whether you’re in Cairo or Alexandria, we would love to celebrate together.

KAS is on the Global Impact Diploma Map!

Khartoum American School is proud to offer the Global Impact Diploma (GID) as the only school in Africa to do so.

The GID is for students who want more than grades. It asks the most important question of all:
What will your impact be?
This competency based diploma builds agency, resilience and purpose challenging students to engage with real world problems, collaborate across cultures and turn learning into action. GID courses blur the line between school and life, making learning personal, meaningful and transformative.

Students complete a pathway that includes Leadership, Collaboration, Agency, and Specialization for Impact. Discovering who they are what they care about and how they can contribute to a better world.

Inspired by global leaders such as the World Economic Forum, Inner Development Goals and Melbourne Metrics, the Global Impact Diploma places KAS and Sudan on the world map.

From Sudan to the world, KAS students are not just preparing for the future. They are shaping it.

“And with that, the 2025 season comes to an end.”

We learned how to pack a school into memories,
how to carry hallways in our hearts,
how to let laughter survive borders.

From Sudan to Egypt,
from what was familiar to what became home,
we stayed, together.

Khartoum American School was never made of walls.
It was made of people, of stories, of belonging.

As this chapter closes, we whisper the same hope:
that 2026 will be the year we return,
to roots, to land, to home.

And with that, the 2025 season comes to an end.
