The Space Research Centre at University of Khartoum was established in 2014. It acts as an umbrella for all the space related activities at the University.
One of the projects of this centre is the Cubesat project which started in 2010 at the EE dept. The objectives of this satellite project are:

قام مركز بحوث الفضاء بجامعة الخرطوم بتتبع و استقبال بيانات القمر الصناعي Tsuru التابع لمجموعة بيردز- 4 BIRDS 4 Satellite Project - KyuTech لجامعة كيوتيك اليابانية 九州工業大学 Kyushu Institute of Technology. هذا و قد تم اطلاق المجموعة المتكونة من 3 اقمار صناعية يوم 14 مارس 2021م من محطة الفضاء الدولية International Space Station و تتبع هذه الأقمار لكل من الباراجوي Guaranisat-1، الفلبين Maya-2 و اليابان Tsuru.
تم استقبال وتحليل بيانات القمر التعليمي KSU CubeSat لجامعة الملك سعود - King Saud University (الرياض- المملكة العربية السعودية)، بالمحطة الارضية لمركز بحوث الفضاء بكلية الهندسة جامعة الخرطوم في نفس اليوم الذي اطلق فيه. هذا و قد تم إطلاق KSU CubeSat على متن الصاروخ سويوز-2 الروسي Soyouz2 يوم الأحد الموافق 21 مارس 2021.
كانت بداية مشروع القمر التعليمي بجامعة الملك سعود علي يد الدكتور نادر عبد الحميد الذي قام بتكوين مجموعات مختلفة من الطلاب للأجهزة الفرعية للقمر وقام بالتدريب والإشراف علي إنشاء المحطة الأرضية داخل كلية الهندسة بجامعة الملك سعود بالرياض. والجدير بالذكر ان د نادر عبد الحميد هو أيضاً صاحب فكرة إنشاء مشروع القمر التعليمي بكلية الهندسة بجامعة الخرطوم والذي انبعث منه مركز بحوث الفضاء بجامعة الخرطوم.

تابع الحدث التاريخي لارسال شركة SpaceX ووكالة ناسا للفضاء رائدي الفضاء روبرت بنكن Robert Behnken و دوغلاس هارلي Douglas Hurley من الأراضي الامريكية لمحطة الفضاء الدولية ISS. تعد هذه المهمة أول عملية ارسال رواد فضاء من اراضي امريكية منذ ايقاف المكوك الفضائي عام 2011.
هذا الحدث يعد نقطة تحول في تاريخ رحلات الفضاء و قد يفتح الطريق أمام رحلات الفضاء التجارية في المستقبل 🚀🚀.
سيتم الاطلاق اليوم السبت 30 مايو عند التاسعة و٢٢ دقيقة مساء (3:22pm EDT). و يمكن متابعة البث المباشر للاطلاق عبر الرابط ادناه والذي سيبدأ عند الخامسة مساء ( 11:00am EDT).

أقام مركز بحوث الفضاء بالتعاون مع منظمة جيل الفضاء التابعة للأمم المتحدة وجمعية أسبوع الفضاء العالمي يوما ثقافيا للاحتفال بالأسبوع العالمي للفضاء وذلك يوم الأربعاء 10 أكتوبر 2018 بقاعة الترابي بكلية الهندسة جامعة الخرطوم. تضمن البرنامج فقرات متنوعة علمية وثقافية ,شملت سردا للأحداث التاريخية لإنشاء وكالة الفضاء الأمريكية ناسا , بالإضافة للأخبار المتعلقة بالفضاء من المشاريع المعقدة و وأخر مشاريع الأقمار الصناعية في أفريقيا وغيرها من المواضيع.
التقرير التالي يعرض ما احتوى عليه البرنامج من مواضيع متنوعة وتفاعل الحضور أثناء الفعالية مما اعطى النقاش بعدا أخر..
افتتحت المهندسة بالمركز وممثلة منظمة جيل الفضاء بالسودان "هنادي محمد ميرغني" البرنامج بمقدمة تعريفية عن اسبوع الفضاء العالمي و تعريف بمنظمة جيل الفضاء التابعة للأمم المتحدة والفرص والفعاليات التي تقدمها المنظمة بالإضافة الى نبذة عن مركز بحوث الفضاء بجامعة الخرطوم ونشاطاته.
ثم قدم بروف شريف فضل بابكر مدير مركز بحوث الفضاء فقرة عن المشاريع التقنية المعقدة والمتعلقة بالفضاء وكيفية إدارتها مشيرا إلى أن أصغر تفاصيل تلك المشاريع يجب الاهتمام بها لتجنب النتائج الكارثية.
المهندس عمر محمد استعرض تاريخ إنشاء وكالة الفضاء الأمريكية (ناسا) تزامنا مع الذكرى الستين لها كما تطرق إلى بعض اهم كوارث الفضاء وأسبابها.
تحدثت المهندسة سارة البشير عن مشاريع الأقمار الصناعية المصغرة CubeSats وتطورها في أفريقيا كما تطرقت إلى استعراض نشأة مجال الفضاء والوضع الراهن له في السودان والفرص في المستقبل.
د. نادر عبد الحميد مدير فريق العمل بالمركز، تطرق إلى نشأة مشروع الكيوبسات في الكلية وتطوره حتى إنشاء مركز بحوث الفضاء بالكلية.
اختتم اليوم بفقرة نقاش تفاعلية أثرت محتوى البرنامج وتضمنت بعض المداخلات والأسئلة من الحضور التي أجاب عليها كل من المهندس محمود عيساوي، المهندس أحمد عبد الكريم و د. نادر عبد الحميد.

It's time to celebrate Yuri's Night !
Yuri’s Night is an international celebration of humanity’s achievements in space. Yuri's Night events are held around the world every April in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin's first human spaceflight on April 12, 1961, and the inaugural launch of the first Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981.
Last year Yuri’s Night held by the Space Research Centre at university of Khartoum.

The Chinese space lab Tiangong-1 will hit the ground this week!
The Tiangong-1, is china’s first space station prototype with a weight of 8.5 tons, was launched in 2011 and expected to deorbit in 2013. However, the mission was further extended and in 2016, China’s space agency lost control of Tiangong-1 but it was estimated to re-enter earth’s atmosphere and burn up in 2017.
However, experts are now expecting it to enter earth this Monday 2nd of April. According to the latest predictions, it will begin its descent into Earth's atmosphere around April 1st at 23:25 UTC, others say around 2:00 UTC on April 2 — give or take seven hours. The station reentry is anticipated to take place anywhere between 43ºN and 43ºS but the longitude is not yet determined.
But don’t Panic! You have a much better chance of winning any lottery than being struck by a piece of this satellite.

Meet Our outstanding team member Rayan Imam who ranked among Africa's top 10 women in space. She is very passionate about her work and undoubtedly one of the key persons in the Space Research Centre. Rayan is also the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) National Point of Contact in Sudan and a lecturer at the University of Khartoum, Electrical and Electronic engineering department.

شارك مركز بحوث الفضاء بجامعة الخرطوم احتفالات أسبوع الفضاء العالمي هذا العام بمنتدي قدم فيه الباحثون بالمركز محاضرات شيقة غطت جانب من اهم احداث عالم الفضاء في العام المنصرم مثل مركبة الفضاء كاسيني التي اتمت مهمتها العلمية بعد 20 عاما من التحليق في الفضاء، ومركبة الفضاء فجر التي تحاول الإجابة عن بعض الأسئلة المتعلقة بنشأة الكون، وكسوف الشمس العظيم الذي شوهد في أجزاء كبيرة من الولايات المتحدة و كان فرصة للعلماء والباحثين لإجراء العديد من التجارب العلمية اثناء الكسوف، والعديد من المحاضرات كما يتضح في هذا التقرير المصور
