The Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) is a technical and vocational education and training (TVET) Institution established as a Professional Centre from January 2015 under the Tertiary Education Act (TEA) 2011. SIT operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Education. Founded in 2005, SIT offers training in the following modes: full time campus-based, worked based and apprenticeships. The t

ypes of training are geared towards learning for work as well as learning for further and higher level of studies. SIT is that Professional Centre which leads learners to acquire practical skills, expertise and understanding necessary for employment in a particular occupation, trade or group of occupations. It works in partnership with its key stakeholders such as businesses and other trade organizations. As its motto “Steps Towards Success” stipulates, learners at SIT are provided with the opportunity to progress in their training programme of choice with the possibility of moving from one level to another. The SIT offers fulltime training at Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Diploma represented as level 3, level 4 and level 5 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF) Seychelles. level 6 on the NQF, is taught on part-time. Apprenticeship training is at the level of certificate (level 3 on the NQF) SIT also works with outside organisations, business and services background to provide other tailor-made training programmes SIT is situated in the Industrial Estate at Providence and has a capacity to take 600 students full-time on campus. The SIT programmes are designed to equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills and the maturity required in the employment. SIT graduates entering the labour force are job ready. Learners complete a work placement programme to learn how to apply their skills in the workplace. This unit component is compulsory on every programme. SIT is a recognized centre of UNEVOC, the International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training .

🎤 The Power of the Mic!

Learners Mya Delorie, Keesha Adelaide, Janil Leon, Samuel Payet, and Shadiyah Panagary took part in the Youth Festival’s Power of the Mic Forum, engaging in meaningful discussions on the current state, challenges, and opportunities facing the youth of Seychelles.

The forum provided an opportunity for our learners to gain valuable insights, exchange perspectives, and confidently bring forward topics and issues that matter to them and their generation. 🇸🇨

On 19 August, SIT Learners and Council Members Anil Antoine, Aakash Sekar, and Melissa Bouzin had the privilege of attending the First Lady’s Meet and Greet with Young Professionals at the First Lady’s Office.

The event brought together young entrepreneurs and professionals from across Seychelles, providing an inspiring opportunity to hear their experiences, exchange ideas, and gain valuable insights into entrepreneurship, leadership, and professional growth.

Minister David Pierre Visits the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT).

Ambassador David Pierre, Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, together with his delegation, was warmly welcomed at the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) on Friday 14th August.

The visit provided an opportunity to engage with staff and students, highlighting SIT’s role in advancing technical and vocational education in Seychelles. It also served as a valuable platform for SIT to share its vision, priorities, challenges, and aspirations for the future, reinforcing its commitment to equipping learners with practical skills essential for national development.

Promoting Mental Well-being at SIT 💙

Today, our staff had the opportunity to participate in a meaningful Mental Health Awareness Session conducted by a Mental Health Care Doctor and Psychologist.

The session was truly insightful and worthwhile, focusing on important topics such as stress management, building resilience, self-care, and maintaining a healthy mindset in both our personal and professional lives.
