Ms Mckeon is a dedicated primary teacher who is fluent in Irish and deeply passionate about the language 🇮🇪🗣️. She brings three years of experience teaching in an international school in Qatar 🇶🇦, prior to which she completed her PGCE while undertaking teaching placements across Year 1 to Year 6 in Irish primary schools 📚🏫. Before beginning her teacher training, she worked as a Teaching Assistant in an Irish primary school, gaining valuable experience supporting pupils’ learning and development 👧👦🤝. She is passionate about creating inclusive, engaging learning environments that enable all children to thrive 🧠💙. Her key strengths include strong classroom management, effective communication, and building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families ✨💬.

In her free time, Ms Mckeon enjoys going for long walks when the weather is cooler 🚶‍♀️🍂, meeting friends for coffee, and exploring new coffee shops ☕️🍰. She loves playing padel 🎾, staying active 🏃‍♀️, and travelling to discover new places and experience different cultures and adventures around the world ✈️🌍.

Celebrating Black History Month at our Al Hamra campus has been an incredible journey of culture, creativity, and community! 🌟✨

Here’s a look at some of the dynamic activities our students and staff experienced throughout the week:

💃 Amapantsula Dance Workshop – Mr. Mokoena brought energy and rhythm to campus, leading our students through an unforgettable Amapantsula dance workshop filled with movement and joy!

🎨 Inspiring Workshops & Assemblies – Special thanks to one of our amazing mumpreneurs, Esther! She co-led part of our assembly and facilitated hands-on workshops for our senior students, including Textiles Design, Design Your Book Cover, and Finish My Design. Students explored beautiful fabrics and traditional patterns straight from her business, blending heritage with creativity.

📚 Library Scavenger Hunt – Mrs. Henderson led an exciting week-long scavenger hunt in the library, engaging students in discovering powerful stories, historical figures, and significant moments in Black history.

Mrs Beardwell is an experienced primary educator with over 10 years of teaching experience across both the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia 🇬🇧🇸🇦. She has worked in mainstream and special educational provision settings, developing a strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and the importance of meeting the needs of every learner 🧠💙. Mrs Beardwell holds a BA (Hons) in Primary Education from Canterbury Christ Church University 🎓🏫 and has leadership experience within Upper Key Stage Two, alongside holding a variety of core subject leadership roles throughout her career 📚⭐.

Mrs Beardwell is married and has recently relocated to Saudi Arabia with her husband ✈️. She enjoys an active and varied lifestyle, spending her time going to the gym 🏋️‍♀️️, travelling 🧳, camping 🏕️, and hiking 🥾. She also enjoys playing netball 🏐 and dancing 💃, which complement her love of staying active and social ✨. Always keen to try new experiences, she has recently developed an interest in learning to surf 🏄‍♀️. She values adventure, exploration, and making the most of new opportunities, both personally and professionally 🌟🌍.

This exhibition celebrated the creativity, individuality, and artistic development of our Year 11 and Year 13 Art & Design students from the last academic year.

Through the Pearson Edexcel program, students spent the first year exploring the theme of Identity, drawing inspiration from their heritage, culture, families, friendships, and the world around them. For their final externally set assessments, our Y11 students investigated the theme FOUND, while our Y13 students explored ORIGINS. Now that official grading has wrapped up, we are finally able to share these wonderful creations with our community!

Their work reflected a diverse range of ideas, perspectives, materials, and artistic approaches, with students developing highly personal responses through dedicated research, experimentation, and refinement. While this post features just a small selection of our student artists and their work, the exhibition overall showcased the exceptional quality of outcomes achieved across both year groups and celebrated the thought, skill, and commitment behind each individual journey.

We are incredibly proud of everything they accomplished and invite you to explore the stories, ideas, and identities that shaped their work.

Mr Breika has over 13 years of teaching experience across Scotland, Egypt and Saudi Arabia 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇬🇸🇦. He has taught the IB Middle Years Programme, IGCSE and the English National Curriculum, and has also served as an English Coordinator 📚✍️. He holds QTS and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Bath 🎓🇬🇧. Passionate about critical thinking and educational technology 🧠💻, he strives to equip students with the transferable skills they need to become confident, independent learners 🚀💡.

Outside the classroom, Mr Breika enjoys stories in all their forms, from Russian literature 📖 to films inspired by real events 🎬🍿. He also enjoys visiting new cities 🏙️, travelling with his small family ✈️👨‍👩‍👦, and learning about different cultures, particularly how they shape the way people think, communicate and learn 🌍🗣️.
