I have enjoyed seeing all the beautiful blocks and now Quilts on the moda Blockheads 4 group.
I started late and progress slowly, but i wanted to show my first 12 blocks, plus 3 bonus blocks. Looking forward to continuing it!

This is my quilt ‚In the distance‘, which is hanging at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham. Well, I believe it is hanging there 😉 but I haven’t seen it as I have not been able to attend the festival.
I had started this quilt when schools closed in Saudi on 9th March 2020 and there is a 3“square for each day until 25th June 2020 when summer holidays started. All the pieces show my personal memories of the time or free motion quilting.

I was very quiet all summer long and should have been posting what I have been up to - apart from holidays. 😎

Today was a special day, as the Riyadh Quilt Guild decided to close down. We had said good bye to many lovely members and friends over the last years and the few of us weren’t enough to keep going.
Instead of it being a sad day, we had a great day at my friend Evelyn’s house, sitting together chatting, stitching, enjoying nice food and welcoming likeminded people to buy the library books!
Evelyn showed us some unfinished pieces from a friend that had passed away suddenly a couple of years ago and I fell in love with one Quilt top especially! Abeer had been a wonderful textile artist and I am feeling so honoured to be allowed to take the Quilt top and a thread painting piece home to finish them.
Thank you Evelyn for a lovely day and such beautiful and special challenges!

This Quilt was the BOM of the Riyadh International Quilt Guild 2020-2021. Most years since I am a member I started the BOM enthusiastically, but quickly slowed down and all but one ended up as a UFO’s…
This year I finished it and had great fun piecing the tiny blocks and quilting it using a ruler.
The pattern is called ‘Little Bites’ by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company and I created it as a miniature quilt, making every block half the size, now 2 1/4” and the total of the Quilt 13 1/4” square.

A couple of weeks ago I attended an online workshop with the German Patchworkgilde- we free machine quilted our very own Mandala design. This week I finished mine, felt it looked a bit plain and decided to paint it. I am not sure I like it better now, but the workshop and my colouring were great fun and I enjoyed ‘playing’ with it.
Now I have a new cushion in my room. 🙂

Little Miss Muffet,
sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider who sat down beside her,
and frightened Miss Muffet away.

I think I started this tuffet three years ago in a workshop with lovely friends here in Riyadh. Then it was left in the UFO corner- I knew I wanted to embroider the poem onto it, but I didn’t get me head around to do it.
Now it is done and I am very happy with it - a keepsake of happy days!

‘Exploring texture and pattern with Sue Stone’ Module 4.3
The first two samples were great fun, on the third one- again- I got myself into too much work and I should have placed the geometric pieces closer together. But, it is trial and error to develop a feeling for what I like and dislike.
One more sample and then the course is finished!

I had a stain on my jumper that I couldn’t get off - now I have a few flowers on it and it makes me smile!

Managed to finish this baby quilt with a matching cushion during the holidays. Really enjoyed sewing and quilting these triangles and the cheerful colours!

During our lockdown I started to work on a Calendar, but soon fell behind. When the German Patchworkgilde opened a UFO challenge I registered, knowing I have an extensive stash of UFO‘s...
For October they drew the Number 4, which meant for me creating my May Calendar pieces. Today is the 31st and I finished the last 4 days.
I am very happy with my achievement.
The images show all of my blocks to date (March to May) and the blocks of May on their own. They are all 3x3 inches big, sandwiched and then machine quilted.

Day 10: Thank you Siti Aisha Ahmad Afandi for nominating me to participate in this Challenge! I made myself to sit down today and look for all my photos I had stored on some drives and never taken care off again. I am very happy this evening, as I found many images of Quilts and treasured memories!
This is a baby Quilt I made in 2015 for a lovely friends baby.
I had bought the animal print fabric and liked it so much, I created appliqué blocks with animals from the print. Yes, many hours went into that Quilt, but I enjoyed it very much!

Day 9 of the Challenge: “Reflections of Arabia” is hanging in my house. I couldn’t take a picture straight from the front. This was the BOM with the Riyadh International Quilt Guild, in my first year in Saudi Arabia 2013/2014 and I enjoyed using all the different techniques that went into this Quilt.
