Orbicular igneous rocks have large, polymineralic, somewhat spherical masses called "orbs" or "orbicles". In this case, the rock is an orbicular granodiorite. The matrix around the orbs is granodioritic and composed of potassium feldspar, plagioclase feldspar, quartz, and one or more mafic minerals. The orbs themselves are composed of plagioclase feldspar, hornblende amphibole, biotite mica, and magnetite.
